I appreciate your videos and it will be more helpful for me if you have a chance to document a video about how to fix the windows because the windows of my truck F-150 V8 5.4 lariat 2000 just go down &up if I turn the star back thanks

This is a great video how to to fix this issue. Every step is included and ecspecially usefull is the instuctions on dropping the selector display. Be aware the circuit board solder terminals are much smaller than they appear in the video however. I have done some soldering and have a proffessional grade soldering pen but I was extremely nervous doing this soldering as it would be very east to bridge joints or lift traces(overheating) on the board. I found 3 definetly cracked pins so I repaired them all using very minimal apllication of solder. What I found worked best was to dab a bit of liquid flux to the joint with a Q tip, tin the point of the pen with a drop of solder and then shake most of it off. Use of flux is very important as it will reactivate the old solder. It should not even look like a drop of solder on the end of the pen but should be fully tinned. Touch the tip to the old pin and let the flux do it's magic. It will be properly repaired if the new joint is bright and shiny. If you have a strong magnifier use it and when you look at it you'll know if you got it right. Alternatively, if you have a good electronics repair shop handy or a friend who is an experienced hobbyist, you might want to farm it out. This job woud not be difficult for such a person, but if you have absolutely no experiece soldering this might not be a good project to practice on.After all you've done most of the work just getting the display out! Mine came out great but I have poor eyesight and although my joints came out perfect I was really stressed doing the soldering.Like I said the pins were much smaller than I anticipated. By the way I have a 2002 f150 and the display works perfect now. Many thanks to the maker of the video.

Thanks, you saved me a lot of time and effort so I am going to find me another way to fix mine. Maybe installing a new one in my tank and a gauge in a pod at the windshield. Thanks again.

I have the same problem don’t know if I’m going to try soldering and end up with the same problem as you. I have a lot of experience with soldering. I have solder suckers, temp controlled irons flux’s etc. I would just recheck connections make sure you didn’t break any pins when reinstalling. It doesn’t seem to be any sensitive parts near the odometer pins. Solder again and make sure the solder isn’t touching another solder joint.

Worked great for me the right pin and last 2 on the left I had to re-flow/add some. I could visibly see the crack all the way around the pin. Now it works great!!!

Hesitant to add the same comments but literally fixed my washer in less than 10 minutes and I'm a girl lol, can't thank you enough! I would agree and suggest to the other viewers to spend the money you're about to save in technician repairs on oem parts to minimize any failure of the new part.

Thank You. You saved me a lot of money. BTW, before ordering a new one, check the wire connection. I noticed the connector was almost out; probably from the vibrations thru the years. I squeezed it back in tight and fixed the problem.

Great video coming from an ASE mechanic. You made this so informative that any basic person without basic automotive knowledge could easily repair their vehicle. I wish more people who do videos was as informative as yours has been. Everyone watching could easily take it apart. A little basic soldering skills and you have fixed your vehicle with very little money.... big WIN.....
