I have been listening to the This Must Be Talking Heads podcast and they do a couple episodes on TTC. Chris is on it and it really gives context to his toasting or hype man part of this song. Chris is the guy dressed like a professor but is insanely cooler than you are. His taste in music is far ahead of his time really. He was into hip hop, funk, soul and anything with a good groove early on. Tina too. They were in NYC during the birth of hip hop and Grand Master flash admired their first album telling them that it would be sampled by everyone. He was right. So there is nothing cringe about Chris shouting out P-funk, Mohanan, and James Brown. This power couple are probably the most credible white people to ever contribute to hip hop culture.

Michael McLoughlin One of my favorite songs, the sound of the beat & the sweet harmony. & the shout "James Brown-James Brown". It all just comes together. I think I first heard this song in 1982-It would be 20 yrs, before I found out who recorded it.

Whenever I hear James Brown's name, I think of how Chris Frantz is saying it in this song.

Lol. We all wish you did Chris….we all wish. Good on him though for being honest. He probably cringes like we all do. Great song despite it
