I'm looking at this Rally version & this is my biggest problem w/ her. My speed limits require me to be able to travel at 75MPH & that's not passing either. That's 10-12MPH faster than you were traveling so I'm not sure what I'll do. But I really like the bike, she's got the wind screen & a larger fuel tank which if ya added those on a 300L it would cost you a bit more & it one comes w/ it for $400-$500 more? Anyhoo, thanks for the review & I'm still looking at this little bike. I still like her a lot! peace

Are you over in the US? It was topping out at the equivalent of 80mph, but that was full throttle. I guess it depends how much highway you'll be doing. I think having the fairings improves stability at highway speed vs 300L, if that's worth anything to you
@diggy-d8w

Yeah man, I'm over here in the N.Texas area. All the highways are 65mph to 75mph. I got in trouble(lost my DL) back in the 90's & had to buy a TOMOS moped. It went 42mph after & did exhaust & better CDI. I learned how to ride when with cars wanting to pass me. Defensive Riding taught me how to do this & I let them go by even on roads that I was able to do the speed limits so I guess I could make any bike do the job, but I'd like to get one that can do all I need & it is about, "Intent" for a bike. So you say it does 80mph ? If 80 is the limit I might have to rethink it but I do like this Rally version. I really appreciate your time, I do like this bike....this Rally has the big tank for fuel & I like the way she looks. You ride safe & I'm still saving money so I'll be asking/looking deeper. I'll see your next video as well. peace & GB ALL

lrkI've got the 500x on my list of 11 Dual Sport bikes I've been researching. I don't have the Versys b/c of some other issue I didn't like about it but the bigger bikes on my list; DR650/KLR650/Honda 650L & 450L , and the 500X. All my others are from the Honda 150L & upwards. I really have a wide scope but money plays a huge role for us all. As of today I can almost buy the little Honda 150L but I'm holding out for more power & by researching this group if I do go into the used market, at least I'll have a lot of info on mods, their costs, and other things to look for(on each bike). I've been at it for 8 months, saving money to buy, and so I'm researching it all. Thanks for the hit & I'll go take another LQQK at the Versys 300////peace

So I've come to a place where I just learned about this Rally model, I like it. I gotta ask about all these plastic's that are on the bike & the rather cheap plastic push-clips you showed how to remove? Is it me or does it seems flimsy? I trust you since you got the tools after her & are in a position to know? Are their any protective systems to keep all that plastic underneath & on the sides not to be destroyed or are they tougher than they look? I'd think a tougher skid plate needs to protect the engine but do you pull the plastic & use some other piece or is their some wrap-around pipes/slides, ect? Sorry for all the questions but as you pull all of it off I worry about their replacement costs? Am I worrying too much about nothing ? Anyhoo, thanks for the breakdown of this process. peace

So did the "sensor" get connected on the new muffler, I missed it? Also, I'm guessing you did an ECU upgrade later? I'm "subb'd up" to you now so I can go look for that info. Before I buy this bike I wanna know what I might end up doing down the line & any issues that might be found? Thanks again, peace
@TwoWheelsTooFar

@@diggy-d8w Hey mate, I did get an ECU upgrade but the bike ran fine beforehand. The bodywork is mostly held on with bolts and is very secure but like any adventure/dual sport, if you drop it hard, it will break. The little plastic clips are used a lot in bike/automotive bodywork and are more for positioning than strength. If you don't need to go on the highway and plan on staying local, I would consider the 300L rather than the 300 Rally. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@@TwoWheelsTooFar Cool thanks for the info, picking up my Rally tomorrow. It's nice to know these figures, so I can maybe justify adding lower crash bars or something that weighs a bit. Ive also got a T7 and went a bit overboard, With crash bars, rack, baseplate, centerstand etc. I added about 15kg to it, Damn. When I put luggage on it to go camping it's a quarter of a Ton. 😱
@TwoWheelsTooFar

I ended up with SRC crash bars and I didn't actually notice a difference, perhaps because the weight is so low. Either way, chuck all the accessories on and it's still easier to pick up than a 'big' bike!
