Does the weight of the pod make it hard to get on the plane ?

Hey mate I have a savage Tasman I'm wanting to do a similar pod but with steps each side for getting in and out of the boat what I'm wanting to no if yr family with savage Tasman the have a large middle well and to side wells I want to cut them out when I do the pod setup so I can gain fishing room plan to fo it all my self are thos 3 wells structural to the transom I was going to ad another layer of board and glass to the transom for something extra is that a viable option with cutting the 3 wells out as I will gain about 600mm room in the ass end

It is viable but you need to pretty much build the whole back end from scratch ...its a lot of work ...have a look at some stern drive models to get ideas as they are already set up ....which is why I chose this hull ..it was a lot less qork

If go alloy if you can I made the bung holes larger then glassed the insides so its waterproof

Yeah man, that was some fine craftmanship. When I was a kid ,like 11,12 and so on. I didn't have much money si I'd take a junk boat and patch it up with glass and resin till I knew I wouldnt sink (suddenly). Learned helping my dad and his night time stripped bass club buddies fix and repair. It's a great skill to learn and remember...lol...NOONE will ever forget there first itch and how they shouldn't had scratched it. I was about 7 and my dad was re-glassing a transom in a 20' 1970'ish model Grady White, they had a defect for early transom rotting. I went home blistered from the dust. I'm 43 now, oops, I ranting, your vid brought back good memories, most of the men have passed away. Anyway, I'm about to do my first conversion inboard to outboard on a 1986 Imperial 23' cuddy cabin. Going to put a outboard deisel Oxe 250. Hope I have the same success as you. So how is it holding up so far? It's been 9 years so I cant help but wonder.

Enjoyed the vid but your info crawlers sucked big time! Maybe plan on scrolling them in proper order or at least leave them on the screen long enough so those of us that arent accomplished speed readers can follow along.

I have to ask why you didn't make the pod the entire width of the boat? Check out my build the boat I did I call the anti pod. Engine is in from the pod. Gives bouncy to the back of the boat and make it more stable. putting pods on like in this video doesn't make sense in my opinion

I know they say raise the motor on a 12:1 ratio by length of pod. Did you raise yours and how long is the pod?
@longbeach57

i thing its about 700 long kinda did it by feel just long enough for the motor to tilt without hitting and the height was determined by outboard leg but it follows the same lines as the hull .

I don't think the pod makes too much difference to overall speed but it cruises well at 35 kmh,s iv had it to about 55 60 kmh,s at wide open throttle not too sure about the revs tho , thanks for your interest

the calculation is pretty straightforward , the height is determined on the outboard leg ie 20 inch or 25 inch leg , and the length you want to be able to tilt the outboard fully up and down without interfering with the pod etc , but getting the height on the outboard is critical thanks for watching..

how do you decide what size to make the bracket ? and am i right in saying that the length of the shaft determines the distance between the top of the bracket and the top of the vessel your video is really informing,thank you

the balance is fine i bought it as a project so i never had it out on the water beforehand its still holds up well and im hoping it will for years to come i was a fibreglass fabricator for years which is why it was cheap to do paying only for materials , the glass matt is generally 3 layers of 450 gsm with added strength in areas of stress and built out of 18 mm ply

hows the balance does it plane out better or worse than before? is that considered a floating pod? it really cost $750? w2hat size ply did u use and how much glass mat and resin.....is it still holding up well?
