ok this is really a fantastic interpretation, technical precision and soul are all there, very similar to Zimerman's version and we are talking about one of the greatest pianists ever, so absolutely great work mate

Barber is not contemporary, he's been dead for 42 years. And this piece was written 60 years ago.

@@sergei-prokofiev yeah im sorry but I strongly disagree. What you seem to ignore is that, especially in my generation, there is a resurgence of orchestral techniques evident in modern music (Childish Gambino, Rex Orange County), as well as an emerging interest in orchestral pieces themselves (Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto, Amore Miu Aiutami soundtrack, etc.) This resurgence has rightfully left out the contemporary and 20th century composers in classical music, simply because their music is UGLY and AWFUL to listen to. You can enjoy it, that's fine, but don't act as if it is universally understood by all, not just by intellectual elitist academics, that the piece is a glorified masterpiece. My generation values beauty and aesthetics, both of which are absent here and perfectly represented in works by Chopin, Listz, Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky. And the fact that most people would agree (I have my own experiences) means that your opinon, as valid as it may be, isn't shared by many others. I'm sorry to say but contemporary classical music, the avant garde and the atrocious modernist ideology of art, are dying, and there is a resurgence of interest in the classical notions of beauty and artistic standards (see the TikTok trend "How did we go from this to this" comparing classical art to modern art). Deutsche Gramophone wouldn't waste their time recording a piece it knows will gain few listens. They would rather stick to what is popular, and those pieces are popular for a reason, not just because they hold some evil monopoly over the classical music industry.

@@aidandavis7657 yeah I agree with you on your point that Deutsche Gramophone won't record this because it's not populair. But I strongly suggest you listen to this piece a few times more, because it has some really beautiful and special moments. Especially the second mvt!!!

I agree with Liebestraum Piano. For sure it took me much more time to relate to this music than it did with most of the romantic and pre-romantic pieces, but at the end I did. Contemporary music seems to be made for intellectual elitist academics because it has a lot of dissonance that tends to repel us since we are not used to it. There is no rule though that proves that dissonance is a bad thing. A lot of the folk music around the world, which is made by people who don’t belong to the intellectual elitist academic category, is even based on dissonance. So, I strongly suggest you to give contemporary music some chances (since one wasn’t enough for me too) and listen to it with good headphones!
