Thanks for the video, I am assuming thr bars do not make contact w the tanks. Are you happy w the ergonomics? Did u find the need to get adjustable footpegs?
@xavkno
16 күн бұрын
@@shershot because of how wide the front of the tank is the bars have to be set pretty far apart, not very similar to sport bike bars, more so closer to the ergonomics of flat bars. And for the other questions, no I did not ever get adjustable foot pegs, but it would have been nice to bring the pegs up a little bit more to make it a more tucked riding position.

@xavkno

@@shershot drilled holes in the bars, the bars can rotate in the clip on brackets so you just need to worry about the side to side spacing. also the clip ons I used were aluminum so very easy to drill into.

@xavkno you have been most helpful in this journey. My last question is what was your torque spec on the stanchions. I'm very cautious because I got ohlin 204. I read people use 10nm and even up to 35nm which sounds critical. Blessings my friend Edit. Emailing woodcraft for their answer aswell
@xavkno

@@shershot I don't remember the exact torque specs, but the installation instructions for the clip ons had it on there. All I do remember is that it was a lower number, you don't need a lot of force in those pinch bolts to hold on tight. edit: I looked up the installation instructions, it just says to use a 90° Allen wrench and tighten both sides in increments 3 times

the bike looks awesome, I am shopping around for a first bike and was told to check out the mt07. When I saw this I liked the style alot more, how has owning it been? how is the maintenance? And would you recommend
@xavkno
16 күн бұрын
@@ryantumey3929 this was my first bike, I loved it, maintenance was pretty easy to do myself, great bike if you plan on doing a few mods because a lot of parts from the fz/mt 07 fit directly on. I was always getting compliments when I had this bike. I will say its probably not the best first bike, but if you do end up getting it, it will last you a long time before you feel you may want to get another bike

What benefits does it give up? Looking to do the same but wanted to know why you think no
@xavkno
8 ай бұрын
I did it purely for looks. in my opinion every benefit there is to clip-ons could also be achieved by just getting aftermarket bars, and it would be way less and be way easier. there are only two reasons I would do clip-ons; you have a windshield on your bike and you want to tuck in to be fully protected from the wind. Or you plan on taking the bike to the track, where swapping out the individual bars when you crash is cheaper and easier to replace than buying a whole new handlebar set. But if you don't care about any of that, you can do what I did, because I thought it looked cooler than stock.

From what I've seen, it should work on a mt07, the fork tubes are the same, and so is the triple tree, however I looked at a mt07 in person and it looks like the headlight housing is really close to the forks, and may need to be trimmed back

Hi there I’m very much a noob here but I’m planing to get the mt07 (same thing ig but the xsr ain’t available here) so I’m just wondering like can’t you jsur get some clip ons and clip em on the forks and delete the clamp+stock bars
@xavkno
Жыл бұрын
I believe you can get basic clip ons, I just wanted some with a little bit of a rise for a better riding position, but for the mt07 woodcraft makes an adapter plate that mounts the guage and bolts into the stock bar mount
@lilnips
Жыл бұрын
@@xavkno I know but the woodcrafts are just not the look I’m going for :( Like I just adore those retro Ducati cafes but there’s not much here so I’m trying really hard to achieve that look, especially at the front. Like literally every video about handlebars is about the woodcrafts, but youre like the only vid ok KZitem that produced the best results. I thought if it’s possible to remove the forks and slide those clip ons between the chassis clamps and delete the rest. I hope you get what I’m saying sorry for the long long long eply hahaha also subbed
@xavkno
Жыл бұрын
@lilnips yes you could technical put standard clipons onto a mt07 like how I did on mine, you would need to check the spacing between the headlight and the forks to make sure the clipons you are getting fit, woodcraft sells 2 pieces clipons that don't require you to remove your triple tree or dropping your forks to install. The next big problem I ran into was mounting the guage. If you can find a bracket that mounts the guage below where the bar mounts are, or somewhere completely different, then you can install clipons

I had that exact same problem when I had the bike. Just a few days before I wrecked my bike, a company called funny's custom services in Japan made a single seater for the xsr that has a little bit of a lip that I think might help, he also makes a rear seat cover that adds a little lip to the stock seat

Hey bro love the bike. I also have an xsr and put some motogadget mirrors but they completely blur after 5-6k rpm. Do you have the same issue?
@xavkno
Жыл бұрын
I did have a similar issue, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't see. It was just a little fuzzy in the top end. If you're using the stock bars, the only place you can mount them would be on the bar ends because it makes up a portion of the handle bar. That might br why it's more vibraty than mine because mine were mounted directly onto the bar using the included brass spacer, which might help with vibration

I’ve been looking for a tutorial that shows what the riser clip ons look like. Do you think they’d be any difference in the 31 mm riser? I want to go for an aggressive position.
@xavkno
Жыл бұрын
I think the 31mm riser would be a good height, but based off when I was positioning my bar, I don't think the triple tree would let the risers fit. However, based off when I did it, I believe (theoretically) you can go more aggressive and use standard out the front clipons, as long as you can get it to fit between the shock and headlight bracket

From what I know woodcraft doesn't make an adapter plate for the XSR700, the mt 07 mount has a slight angle on the bolts that the xsr doesn't have, so I used woodcraft 75 mm riser on the sideways mounted clip on with the xl bars, and to hold the tac I used a funny's custom service speedometer stay
