Excellent project and well executed!!! I have the tools and skills and will make a similiar one for my bride’s (of 41 years) hatchback. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I know its been years, but how many feet and inches sleeping space from back to the passenger seat? Also, how much would you charge to do this if i drove out to you. I plan on hitting the road soon and traveling the country!

Great to see a video of someone building out an impreza. Excellent job, very sleek and a good use of space. I've got a '14 impreza hatchback and am looking to do something similar to your own. My constructive feedback is that I would have been really nice to have some dialogue explaining the process in more detail. Also curious how much a project like this costs.

That was a fun and organic project! The live edge and the figuring of the walnut are so perfect. A little education was my favorite part though!

Poor FJ it will need 2000LB springs to hold up all that wood. 3/4" plywood for the drawers too? Needed a forklift to put it in the car.lolol

Great build. Thanks for sharing. How easy/ difficult is it to get to the spare tyre?
@orvsr4me2
Жыл бұрын
The build was designed to not impede normal life. The platform would need to be removed to get to the spare but the whole thing weighs maybe 40 lbs (18 kg) total. Also, the passenger rear seat can be used if you simply fold the platform up into the cargo area.

Awesome filming and end result! I also named my wagon subrina ahaha. I had the back seats out for a bit for a camper conversion but need to do a version 2 as the first was heavy and clunky but it worked and had tons of sleeping/sitting space

Hi there! It took about 40 working hours from start to finish, including brainstorming, design work, and the total construction. Replication of the current design would take half as long, most likely. I appreciate the interest!

That is so cooL! i just got a 2023 impreza... was looking at an outback but my budget only allowed me a impreza.. I love to see builds for imprezas out there that works and looks just as good! my goal some day is an outback, but I would love a built like this for my impreza!!!

Really beautiful and illuminating work ! I'm beginning my own FJ build-out now very inspired. - I'm curious: why the double wall between the two drawer compartments (as opposed to just a single wall) ? And, is the bottom a thinner material? I mean, is it 1/2" where all else in the platform/drawer insert (not including dividers) is 3/4"??
@orvsr4me2
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. I don't check here very often anymore. The double wall was an evolutionary design, initially so I could install the two sides independently. I did away with this in the next version as it isn't necessary. I used 1/4 for the bottom of this one, 1/2 on the next version but will both had advantages depending on the pull out tables. 3/4 (18mm) used throughout the structure elsewhere.

thanks for sharing the video. Only comment I would have is some moderate post production.. increase color saturation a bit and include more time at places like the waterfall (that was awesome!) and the cool video going up the water..Nice views!
