Is combing this way really sufficient? Other videos show a much more complicated process, dividing the hair, combing the same hair from different direction. Is that not necessary?

Plastic lice combs often work fine for removing lice, however they don't remove nits.

Hey, I had read somewhere that if we apply apple cider vinegar, it loosens the glue of the nits(eggs). So can I apply vinegar instead of conditioner and the use the nit comb? And it will get rid of the eggs(nits) right?? Or only the lice?

Trying to know how i can make sure we are getting the nits out if they seem get "lost" in the conditioner foam. My kids and i have very fine hair and i did notice that the nits will slip through the metal comb we got with out lice kit. (We dry combed outside this morning, didn't realize later combings have to be wet too)

Do you wash the conditioner out before combing or is it left in the hair?
@barbaragips9337
9 жыл бұрын
Jessica Malcore You leave the conditioner in while combing. You may have to add more as you go since you comb a lot of the conditioner out during the combing process.

If I boil my combs, is it okay if I use a metal steel type of a bowl? Would that infect the bowl because my mom uses it for cooking and I don't want to infect it.

I'm sorry for asking you all these questions, I'm just really really scared and freaking out! But after my sister is nit picking my hair and done using the combs, does she throw away the comb? If not do I boil it in a steel metal bowl? And would the lice infect the bowl or soemthing? Also how do I wash the nit comb?
@barbaragips9337

Wendy Guo After each use you need to clean the comb. Boil water, turn off the heat and soak the combs for 5 minutes.

@barbaragips9337

Wendy Guo If you would like to avoid spreading head lice in the future, it would be wise to not share brushes at all. You need to be lice free for at least two weeks to be sure the lice are gone for good.

Oh thank you, but my sister is helping me with the nit combing and do you think she'll get the nits or lice in her hair? Also, how long do you think the lice will go away? A week or two? Please get back me as soon as possible again!!
@barbaragips9337
9 жыл бұрын
Wendy Guo If your sister keeps her hair pulled back and is careful while she combs you out, she should be fine. Lice do not jump or fly. If you are concerned, you can comb her out as well...after you clean the nit comb. It takes two weeks of daily combing after treatment to be sure the lice are gone for good.

It's my first time getting lice, I was wondering if you had to wash your sheets every single day? Please get back to me as soon as possible!!
@barbaragips9337
9 жыл бұрын
Wendy Guo It's best to wash your sheets in hot water and dry them on high heat on the day you are treated. Then, over the next few days, just put them in the dryer for 20 minutes. Once you are combing and not seeing any more bugs you can stop. If there is no bugs in your hair, then there will be no bugs anywhere else.

Yes, Andrea V. wet combing has been proven to be the most effective way to remove lice and nits. If you comb on dry hair, you have no control as to where the bugs may fall. By wetting the hair and adding conditioner, the bugs will stick to the conditioner and come out easily on the comb.

Can I wash my hair with shampoo that has some tea tree oil in it first? Then I was thinking that I could put conditioner in my hair and start to brush. Or should I start with the brushing first, then shampoo? Thanks for the help!
@barbaragips9337
9 жыл бұрын
+Michelle hope I recommend wetting your hair, putting conditioner in and combing through with the nit comb to get rid of lice and their eggs. Tea tree oil can be used as a preventative to avoid getting lice, but it will not kill them. If you are looking for a natural shampoo to kill lice and nits, I would recommend Lice Logic Clear & Free Shampoo.

Yes, Cheyenne Coleman the comb does remove the nits (eggs). But it won't get every single one. You want to comb first to get out as many of the eggs as you can. Then you will need to rinse out the conditioner, blow dry the hair and carefully look through the hair to pull out any nits that the comb might have missed.
