I have moved onto a much larger inflatable boat. But, The last frame I made lasted a long time, and I still have it. As long as you seal it with something heavy duty like 4 coats of maine spar varnish or west systems epoxy you will get many years out of a frame.

Been looking at inflatables for a few months...might go for a 12.5ft Innovocean Metal Master...build quality similar to Stryker but more affordable. Also comes with Ladder, Bimini, and padded bench seat with under storage bags along with bow bag...and adjustable/removable mounted stainless steel wheels along with a reinforced aluminum transom

Looks like a good boat. I'm pretty happy with this Bris 450. Very much a Stryker knockoff, but has a good price point and pretty heavy duty at the end of the day. I like that this boat is 14.5 long, perfexct size for my set-up.

Did you weld the console to the floor? Wonder how you did it i want to do a similar project… amazing work brother
@RogueMTRafter
2 ай бұрын
@@jeanlephunk Thanks 😊 The console and rear bench are mounted to the floor with M8 bolts. The bolts are smooth headed and topped with flex tape so they don’t wear on the floor. They have slim lock nuts on the top of the floor, with permatex thread locker. Then I drilled out the mounting holes at the bottom of the console and bench to go over the lock nuts, leaving enough threaded post to add a heavy washer and nylon lock-nut inside the bench and console. They are mounted solid. Same on the seat post. You’d have to blow this up with dynamite to remove them at this point 😂

Wow - incredible boat. Question: at what point do you get an all-welded (or riveted) ALUMINUM boat and not the inflatable? Thanks.
@RogueMTRafter

@@Bigfishfun333 I actually prefer an inflatable boat for my budget. If I had an extra 80k laying around Id probably be running a big crestliner. For the money this boat will safely do everything I need it to. You’re not likely to sink in an inflatable boat either.

I can see the inspiration they got from stryker with this taller aluminum transom. This is a good quality boat. Stryker has thicker tubes but less inside width than this one. This doesn't even have any reviews on Amazon yet. Its about half the price of a comparable Stryker but to be fair Stryker boats come with more accessories than bris.

Looks awesome. How did you decide how far forward to put your seats and console?
@RogueMTRafter
3 ай бұрын
@@handson2022 Im actually only installing one seat now, not enough room to act quickly when a fish hits. I went over how much room I have and this floor plan worked best. I have a lot of weight on the rear, so moving my driver’s seat position and console forward made the most sense to balance the boat.

Hey, really looking forward to seeing your new videos, just came from the first. I've been trying to decide on an inflatable for months and that one helped alot!! If you dont mind could you talk about the Pros and Cons of a Tiller vs Remote?
@RogueMTRafter
4 ай бұрын
They both have their place depending on what kind of boating/fishing you are into. I think it's a personal preference more than anything though. This boat will be set-up for trolling, downriggers on the back. I like being able to steer up front. Tiller set-ups are less costly to set-up also. I will most likely have an extra 1200 bucks into this build with the steering console set-up. If you are on the fence about this boat just pull the trigger, it's seriously really well made. I will have the console video up in about 10 days. Thanks for stopping by man.

12 gallons is going to be overkill for your application. You’re going to average 10mpg and can probably use a 3.5 and keep a spare in the car for multi day trips.

I’ve always wondered about fishing hooks and inflatable boats
@MadisonFishing
4 ай бұрын
Hooks are fine. Fish spines, especially saltwater bass, will puncture them though
@rdr21776
4 ай бұрын
If you inflate high quality pvc to the correct pressure, it's so taught that hooks can't attach to them. You might catch it on a seam or the bumper, but even then, it's not going puncture it unless you start yanking aggressively. The materials used in Inflatables are light years past what it was 30 years ago. Mine has 3 separate chambers so even if one punctured, the boat would still get you back to the dock. Holes in Inflatables are very easy fixes. What aren't easy to fix are torn/separated seams so if you do buy an Inflatable, make sure the seams are welded or triple bonded.

Do you think you want the floor to be light weight or would a “heavy floor” aid in stability?

It needs to be rigid, not necessarily heavy. You will be carrying stuff and people so the lighter the flooring, the more people and gear you can bring.

@RogueMTRafter

This motor mount is good for gas motors as well, but if I added a gas motor I would most likely build a frame based motor mount. I'm actually working on the 3rd frame as we speak, made a few changes, nothing major. The new changes are the front and back storage areas, where I keep my batteries... I'm using hinges on those instead of the original way, and I have this finished with different products. I coated it with 2 coats of ProLux SRD Natural Semi-Transparent Stain and I'm doing 3 coats of marine spar urethane. I'm also getting a different cooler, so I'll be making a new cooler/rod holder set-up.

As far as that Ice chest goes.... I would also consider an electric and avoid the ice. I have a rather large Alpicool that's worked well but it would be too big for this boat so I might consider a smaller one. Another thing you might consider is using some sort of insulation around whatever cooler you decide. It's a lot more moolah but I'm considering Marine Plywood with that West System. Might go Mahogany. Sure would look pretty.
