I was 17 and finishing highschool and playing drums for Leslie West Vagrants in New York city and hoping to be like the Beatles. We signed to Atlantic records and had some success as a live band opening for groups like The Doors,The Who, The Rascals, The Nice featuring a young Keith Emerson, The Vanilla Fudge, Sly and the family Stone, Wilson Picket, The fifth Dimension, The Beau Brummels, The Shirells Billy Joel Hassels ect. The Beatles should not be on this list. All of their tunes were 1964 and later to be on the US charts.

My gosh. Art Garfunkel's voice sounds so cool. Where's Paul??? I can't believe Karen is not with us anymore. Terrible tragedy. I have my own playlist to listen everytime I feel down. Let it be is the very first in my Top Ten Billboard Hits. Gee, the lyrics are soooo different, but the essence is the same. Hail The Beatles

Hat a strange and subjective list: without: Björk, Breeders, Garbage, PJ Harvey, Hole, L7, Guano Apes, Skunk Anansie! Reed and Costello but no Patti Smith, Siouxsie, Blondie or Toyah, Korn, Deftones, Bizkit missing, no Cure or Sisters of Mercy, no Black Flag, Misfits, Kennedys, Fugazi, Violent Femmes missing. Joy Division, Interpol, Muse, Strokes?
