The most notable thing about those 4-seamers... they weren't just staying high. They were going UPWARDS. He was literally throwing reverse breaking balls 😂

Over 100 pitches into the game and firing 102mph like it's nothing. Prime Verlander was unreal.

What’s sad is, through most of JV’s tenure with Detroit, he’s always been plagued by poor run support while the rest of their pitchers have always gotten decent run support. That alone cost him the 2016 AL Cy Young

Watching that mean performance on tv back in the day. You didn't even need the radar or the commentators to know he was serving it up. The scowl, the dirt kicking. The walk off the side between pitchers. Just looked like a demon out there. Every batter that walked up got the entire games worth of anger. Amazing how he flicks the speed up like he's shifting a car.

Verlander has so many losses where he gave up 1-2 runs through 8 innings. The Tigers offense the next game would usally put up a bunch of runs
@Karmy.
Жыл бұрын
Yeah the Tigers seem to have had that issue for years, they'll randomly score like 15 runs in one game and then struggle to score even 2 total across the next 8

I’ve watched a lot of baseball in my time and with out a doubt a 102 fast ball to a 82 breaking ball is still the nastiest combo I have ever seen. Pure greatness and without a doubt future HOFer

If he's angry it's because he's going to take a loss pitching a 2 run near complete game.

Yeah, our bullpen didn't do him any favors. I remember watching a Wednesday matinee game against the Royals on the MLB network. He walked off the mound with a three-run lead, walked one, gave up a couple of hits and had double-digit strikeouts, if i remember correctly. Anyway, it was a dominant performance and he had to sit in the dugout and watch the bullpen not only pitch him into an ND, but they ended up losing to a Royals team that was around DFL. All bullpens are not created equal. I think he would still have a shot at 300 if the bullpen would've done better closing.
