Are thrusters and steering effected when using only the generator for propulsion?

I assume (wrongly i guess) there is some type of impeller on the drive shaft connected to the PTO? when not "powered" does this not create drag on the shaft? or is it an "open" circuit so no pressure/drag is created in the system?

Your website has zero information on any of your boats, no specs, no pricing, no pictures, nothing.

Fiberglass, yuck! I would not go out any further to sea than I could swim back to shore. Expedition ships are made of STEEL.

I would luv to see a trawler use vanadium oxide battery system in substitute for ballast. the fluid is always there, and can be as low as any bullet casing could be, and it gives decades worth of energy for use.

I dont like the 1 engine concept, although the take me home hydraulic system is an answer, they both use the same bearings, what if the bearings go out on the drive? someone can argue the separate take me home shaft is a target to get hit, whats the odds of hitting something vs a bearing going bad? all bearings go bad, not all propellers are damaged beyond use.

Could they use hydraulic drive for the main propulsion as well.

Hi, are you sure that a 24kw genny will propel a heavy boat like the NH at 5 knots.....i assume 2-3 knots only.

Great idea, way better to than a wing engine and folding prop.

Only if the problem is not with the shaft or propeller, then you need another one.

Spray the finished hull with a nice heavy coat of Polyurea for abrasion resistnce. That stuff is tough as nails.

After the sinking of Baaden, what is New World (the company that acquired Northern Marines assests after they declared bankruptcy) doing to put at ease any question of vessel safety and company integrity?

Didn't one of their big new trawlers sink at launch? It was like a 10 million dollar boat. Big investigation lawsuit the works.

Yes, one of the employees transposed (for lack of a better term) the ballast weight number on the port side. This changed the "righting arm calculation". It was originally "Blood Baron" and then "Baden" and series of personel changes seem to have lead to the chain of events that resulted in the launching event. This new group looks to have the company back on track and delivering the high quality yachts the original reputation was built on.
