Never tried it but I don’t see why you couldn’t. Just be sure to stay under 250 lbs. total load on the Ultraswing (including the weight of your spare).

Another epic vid combining multiple things, that why I like your channel. BTW, have you found any shops in your area that are good for offroaders that you can recommend? My sister in Mt Home has had issue with local shops for her Tacoma not understanding the different needs of overlanders vs folks that just drive on highways. Case in point, putting those heavy plastic zip tie like clamps on cv boots vs metal clamps.

Thank you! I appreciate it. This was such a fun project. The best offroad shop in Boise that I’ve found is Taco Vinyl Offroad, especially for Toyotas. Brandon is a great dude and has helped me with several things, including removing and re-installing my front differential to fix a botched re-gear.

Love your passion for 4Runner's and mountain biking. I have a 2021 Lunar Rock Pro 4Runner and a 2020 Yeti SB130 mountain bike. We have some great mountain biking here in MD, but no exploring / overlanding options. I did a 20 day trip out to Grand Junction and Moab from MD hitting trails along the way last Fall and it was the most liberating experience I have ever had. I slept inside the 4R for 17 nights and was perfectly comfortable. Planning to hit Boise and Bend, plus many other trails this Fall. Great content - keep up the good work! Thanks!

@@nickmcdvtt My Rhino colored Yeti SB130 matches my Lunar Rock 4R. Not originally intentional - I cracked the original bike frame after two years which was Storm colored (a flat blue) and Yeti no longer had that color. So I had replace it with Rhino which perfectly matches Lunar Rock. I love seeing mountain bikes on the back of 4R's!

I cover that in the video and in the description, but it’s called the RambleRack from RIGd Supply. There’s a link in the description to RIGd’s website too if you want to learn even more or pick one up!

What makes this a prototype? It's looks like the same product on their site?
@nickmcdvtt
Жыл бұрын
Yep, it's a Ramblerack just like what you see on RIGd's website. The particular example in this video though is a prototype sample and not a production unit. Production units have some subtle differences. For instance, this proto is only built for one bike. It can't be expanded to 2 bikes or more like the production units are. There are a few other differences, but hopefully that gives you an idea.

Being able to lock the bike to the rack with a U-Lock and cable for the front wheel is a must for me. Not having that security in a non-starter for my needs 😢.
@nickmcdvtt
Жыл бұрын
Really, the loop gives you options. You could run a heavy-duty chain through the frame and a cable through the front wheel if you wanted to. But all of it is really more of a theft-deterrent. I don’t entirely rely on my bike rack to prevent theft.
@rigdsupply6945
Жыл бұрын
There’s also a lock for the arm mechanism with a hitch coupler lock, so you can’t compress the lever. That’s the best for quick runs into the gas station, but then the anchor point ads another level of protection. You could also throw a U-lock through the back wheel. So you’d have 3 locking points
