Did you make any videos regarding your pre-planning and training? You mentioned in the beginning just how prepared you felt.

Hi there, no, I didn’t make any videos on that but I did train through a great mountain guy online. Chase Mountains. He has a KZitem channel and chasemountains.io/. I signed up to train on his app and he was the ticket for me to feel prepared physically. Hope that helps.

@@dianegrinehart which program did you purchase? he has quite a few so I'm not sure which to choose. My jmt hike starts July 17, so I have a little over 3 months to train.

I did the cornerstone program. I think it would be perfect for you too. And you’ve got enough time. I started about when you did and had a marvelous adventure. Going the opposite way to September. Hopefully good luck and have a great time.

For those of us who are planning to do this hike for the first time, we appreciate the details and the thoughtful way everything was explained. There’s plenty of non talking jmt videos that you can listen to so this comment was really not needed to make. 🙄

Diane, really loved this film! Wonderful scenery and great commentary along the way. Your connection with and appreciation of the Sierra, the trail, your fellow hikers and your inner self and experience were all wonderful to see. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Yes. Sadly she suffered from mild altitude skinless and exhaustion so had to evacuate to Roads End. I’m planning on coming back at that trailhead this summer and going to thru to Tahoe

Watched every minute of your video. It's real and very well-documented! That rock slide was incredible! I appreciate how you gave a sort of overall view of the passes and valleys on a day by day basis with your geological knowledge. I begin my trip on Aug 21 (2022) with a hiking partner I met on Ladies of the JMT (saw your patch!). Thanks for all of your efforts in posting it, Diane!

Yes! I found this company in Israel and have purchased a couple of the tubes. I find i drink more water if I have a tube but don’t want to use a bladder because I can’t see how much water I have left. Here’s the link sourceoutdoor.com/product/convertube/

Fabulous doc of JMT. Watched thru the middle of the night while sleeping. Will go back and watch it all. You had such an important message at the end for us as a society coming out of this Plandemic. Very insightful you are. And a wonderfully grounded woman. Thank you and hope to meet u on the trail someday.

What a wonderful document this is, and a beautiful testament to all those people in your life. The final three minutes may have been the best part. I was somehow saddened as I was reminded of missed opportunities, but my heart was filled at the same time. Thank you. I desperately want to do the JMT!

Hi Diane, may I inquire?🙏🏼 Would you be able to advise me about the use of a Dyneema free standing tent please? I am planning to purchase a free standing Dyneema tent from Zpacks for my backpacking trip in the Sierra for the summer of 2022. Have used a traditional double wall tent all my life. The Dyneema tent fabric seems to be very thin, and my main concern is durability. Would appreciate any comments that you could share with me on this aspect of backpacking. Thanks in advance!!

I used to use a double walled tent too and switched recently to the Zpack Duplex. You will have to be a bit more careful but i did not use a ground sheet and had no issues. Condensation was the biggest issue, so choose sites with that in mind. Away from lakes and steams when you can and keep at least one fly open if you can and use a lightweight towel to wipe the inside off in the morning. Have fun!!
