*Great unit that’s easy to install and use. It’s relatively quiet compared to window units and **Fastly.Cool** , and it cools down our whole living room, side room and bathroom; which is a large space for any unit to cool.*

on mine i replaced the entire control pannel. fixed. A bad relay (black , roughly cubic component about an inch *halve*inch) was suspect. The noise was comming from the control pannel. was easy to isolate by puuting ear to appliance surface. not sure how safe this is with appliance shell open.

Sorry I guess that would've been useful to mention - you do need to discharge the capacitor. Follow the instructions to discharge it - it's no big deal. You can short the cap with a screwdriver (wear gloves and glasses, you might get a spark) or make a discharge jumper wire with a small 3+ watt inline resistor.
@tomn68

Did you discharge the capacitor? I was looking to replace the magnetron and came across some instructions that said to be sure do discharge the microwave because even unplugged it holds a charge. That scared me off a bit :)

If you just order the correct part, it's just a matter of unplugging the old one, unbolting it, and reversing the process. It would have been plug and play, but the donor microwave held its magnetron in a slightly different stamped steel bracket. I had to transplant it into the stamped bracket from this unit - that was sort of a pain because the brackets are definitely not meant to be disassembled.

Have a similar model that was installed in our house when we bougth it. I had to replace the magnetron. I just happened to have a cheapo GE microwave from our previous house that used the same magnetron, so it was a straight swap. Unfortunately, I didn't find out until after swapping the maggie that the transformer buzzed loudly under load. We'll see how long it lasts. GE definitely cheaped out in their line of products - had to repair the other matching GE appliances in this house as well.

Good to see one working correctly. We just moved in and ours seems to run faster on Medium but make more noise like it's trying on High. It doesn't push much air either way like we were hoping it would.

my GE microwave oven did that and the weird thing is I wasn't even using it. I used it for just a minute and when it dinged, I removed the dish I was warming up. The loud buzzing scared me to death and now I'm afraid to use it! I can also smell something like styrofoam that starts to burn. Darn! I don't want to buy a new one! arrrghhh!
