International Medical Corps
First there, no matter where.Since 1984, International Medical Corps has worked to relieve the suffering of those affected by conflict, disaster and disease, delivering emergency medical and related services that help devastated communities return to self-reliance.
And that’s just where we start.
We stay on to help survivors build a better future. We train people in their communities, providing them with the skills they need to recover, chart their own path to self-reliance and become effective first responders themselves. We work with the community, hire and train local staff, develop partnerships at all levels and evaluate progress to ensure quality. With a staff of more than 7,500 worldwide-96% of whom are recruited locally-our teams ensure that the knowledge required to prepare for and respond effectively to an emergency remains anchored in the community, so residents can better respond should disaster strike again.
