Open Geomodeling
We create conceptual models all the time, aware or not. It's whenever we work on earth-related projects. The subsurface is 3D. Even with 2D maps or 1D logs, we need to translate them into 3D. Interpreting raw data is not only difficult; important details are usually overlooked. Geocomputing may help. It can approximate the subsurface and create simple, but robust 3D models.Creating geological models used to require specialized knowledge. It needed powerful software and immense processing power. It was a domain of large organizations. They focused on mineral and energy resources. Today, tools like QGIS, Paraview, and Blender make geocomputing available to all. You no longer need to learn Python or buy mineral exploration software.
