When I first heard this song it was on Batman Forever Album. Since my mother lost her battle with cancer I aquant it with her memory and the river that divides life from death. I know one day I'll cross the river and see her again.

This song led me to The Devlins. I had a job to even find their album Drift in HMV or Empire in Limerick at the time. Think I got it in Golden Discs eventually. Lifelong fan.

It’s amazing how influential the Batman Forever soundtrack was to my youth. It introduced me to so many great songs and bands. Didn’t realize it until later.

The Devlins were a brilliant group and well unknown, crossing the river was one of their best hits and made it into the Batman movie soundtrack.

They have been two songs, that makes me buy Batman's Forever full soundtrack album. Kiss from s rose by Seal, and that one... It is hypnotic and transfer my mind to some other place and time, to another side of the river of life... Whoever you are - don't give up, just don't. There is or will be, always, someone who awaits only for you, for your love. Have hope...

The incredible talent of song writing that Paula Cole showcases in this song, the mood and tone of the song and the melodies is unforgettable and so touching. And then you add on Dolly Parton. Come on! The way the music starts sets this warm inviting sensible tone to the song. It’s almost like you know at that very moment that it’s going to be a great piece of work and something you will love and listen to forever. I’ll never forget when I first heard this song and on came the first line “There is a diamond inside of me that lights up the sky of my soul”. Omg!! How beautiful, deep and poetic!!! Paula Cole is so amazing. Such a rare talent. Thank for you posting and thanks Paula for sharing your gifts with us!

Why didn't this play in the movie? I mean, almost all the songs on the Space Jam soundtrack were played in that film, so why not for the two Schumacher Batman movies? Those two's soundtracks are why I know of so many obscure artists. Like Moloko!
