Isn’t it ironic that the original drummer never “sticks” around.

CD is a great album. A statement really, to Axl's talent and perfectionism. What came out after being 10 years in the making and many many very talented people involved is a very unique and big sounding album that I now truly appreciate.

You da man…fascinating stuff. Hey if you ever wanna collab, I’m planning to do a video on Axl vs. Azoff. Lemme know! I’m in podcasting & KZitem & sponsor business…just like a lot of us haha, but always looking for new people to work with and learn from.

I will definitely watch your video on Axl v Azoff, but unfortunately I just can’t dedicate any of my time to GNR content anymore. I needed some of my videos to pop off, and they didn’t, so I had to basically retire this channel. Best of luck to you

It's crazy being a fan of Gn'R since early 2002. If you told younger me back in 2006, that I've already heard the mythical General song because it was actually the intro that leads into Welcome To The Jungle played before ever live show, I would have called you crazy. I thought that intro was from a film soundtrack, like Jaws or a James Bond movie. But it's moody slow tone would always get stuck in my head, and I could never find what film it was from. Gn'R used to use film quotes for their live show intros in early Chinese Democracy tours, my favorite being that speech from The Excorcist 3. So at some point, I expected a fan to tell us that intro's orgins. But it never came to be. Axl even teased us saying "we've heard The General live more than any other Chinese Democracy song besides the title track" and speculation never ceased on which song it was Not a single person guessed it was "the intro". Most people on the forums I was on would lable that 30 second Hard Skool clip that leaked years ago as either "The General" or "Jackie Chan" or "Checkmate". And every time that clip popped up on youtube, it would get taken down pretty quickly. So I thought that mystery was solved with the release of Hard Skool. "The General" must have been one of the working titles for that song, and now it has a new name. Like how "The Blues" became "Street Of Dreams" upon mainstream release. So fast forward to now, finding out The General actually came out as its own song, hearing it and thinking "this sounds familiar". But not being able to put my finger on what it reminds me of was frustrating. Until last week, when going through some old live show bootlegs, hearing the intro, and it finally clicking. Feels like a great mystery has finally been solved. Guns n' Rose is fucking wild.
Good job buddy! I love new GNR..always will. They were so promising. They could've done great things. And now the ship has sailed....

So the concept of “extensive touring” never occurred to him when joining and committing to a rock and roll band ? 🤨 I’m sure the other guys were like “what did you THINK we were going to be doing?” To each their own…but it’s still a dick move.

Yikes. Didn't know the crowd at the cancelled Vancouver venue was beaten into submission so violently with so much excessive force by the local police. Cops be cops, I guess... Great video series overall. Very nice overview of events with some in-depth looks focusing in on certain details. Great work!

Tom Zutaut seems to be a very unreliable source, who likes to exaggerate. Like saying about himself at the time, that he "rescued Axl Rose's marriage" and that the "new" GNR called him up and begged him to come back and rescue the band. Because, in Zutaut's words, they (GNR) said he was "the only one who could save them and get Chinese Democracy released." I'd look up interviews with Brian Mantia and music producer Travis Dickerson telling very different accounts of Zutaut's Buckethead stories, both saying about Buckethead that he's clean cut and only into and "inspired" by horror movies. And shortly after this supposed story took place, Tom Zutaut was fired by Axl, for lying to him. And just as a little side not, in 2002 alone, Buckethead released *three* of his own solo albums, because there was no progress with Chinese Democracy in the studio and he wasn't given anything to do by Axl.

What a great video, and a great channel. I recognize myself a lot in your tastes and statement, mostly because Guns N Roses is just my fav rock band, despite being born after they split up. So you can imagine, as I'm sure you did, the joy of them reuniting, eventhough I really wish they'd put all of their beefs behind them, and actually would have done a real reunion, with Steven and Izzy. When I've heard Axl was to replace Brian for the ACDC tour, I was hell of proud of him, knowing the guy and the band history (even red Slash's book), I could imagine that his life was truly turning for the best at that time, stepoing up for one of his idol band, living a dream, and putting back his old crew to revive Guns N Roses, he must have been thrilled and honnestly you can feel he's in a much better place, more relaxed, chill and diligent than what he used to be, or at least what he was critisized for in the past by people simply not knowing the guy, his mindset, traumas and impulsive reactions. Anyway, I really, really, really wanted to attend the Marseille Axl DC show, but life decided to fist me, and it turned out the show was on the day of my final exam, the last of a long list ending a 2 years course I was attending. I couldn't fuck this up, and I couldn't physically do the exam and then attend the show, as I was a good 5 hours away by car. But seeing how freaking good he sounded on KZitem, and what an absolute beast he was again, I just promised myself, no matter the cost, to go see GnR, and so I did a year later, booked 3 tickets, brang my brothers with me, and we drove to Paris to see them. Best fucking show of my life, best fucking night of my life, what a blast, to see my idols there, few feet away from me. Since it was the beginning of the tour, Axl's voice was quite alright, he wasn't all washed up by 2 years of touring like he did later, and had still a bit of that ACDC energy left in him, so it was amazing. Now, well... the man is 60, he has nothing to prove to anyone, anymore. He was the bigger man concerning Guns N Roses, and he has made rock'n'roll history for nearly 40 years. So I guess, we just can be happy he's still arround doing what he loves. After all, he's one of the greatest front man in Rock history.
