Wilder's portrayal of Wonka in the film is pure genius. Was such a talented actor on so many levels. His work will always shine as some of the best in film and be enjoyed by all future generations.

He was such a sweet man. I met him briefly in the Florida Keys (he had a house there and would ride his bike to the corner store my mom worked at sometimes and thats where I encountered him).

Around 7:50 when Gene takes Conan's is absolutely heartwarming. A true human connection. One man happy for another, and that other man so happy for the former. Beautiful.

Gene Wilder was legendary for being a monster comedian on camera, and just a sweet modest gentleman off camera. Such a huge influence in my life as I’m sure many of you.

In the thousands of interviews done by Conan, this has to be up there, in terms of how special and how good it is. First of all, and correct me if I’m wrong, Gene Wilder rarely, if ever, did late night talk show interviews. So for him to go on Conan’s program was a huge deal. Conan, a writing legend in his own right, was clearly awestruck meeting someone who he clearly revered and looked up to. No small compliment when Wilder said, “you’re very good at what you do.” You can hear the sincerity and admiration in Conan’s voice and behavior in this entire interview. My only complaint is that it was only 8 minutes long. Gene Wilder is a once in a generation talent. This interview is a testament to how legendary Gene Wilder is, and also why Conan should be in the conversation about greatest late night talk show hosts of all time.

Gene Wilder is a comic legend he looks funny without 😂 telling a joke he could just look at you and make you laugh very few comedians had that. Jim Carey has that vibe also . I love all Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor movie collaborations they diffently shared a strong chemistry on screen. R.I.P. to him and his wife Gilda Radner.
