The novel is even better. Abe Kobou truly encapsulates existential horror in Woman in the Dunes . A marvelous mixture of subtelty and mundanity to horrific nature of inescapable manoeuvring of the world which could befall anyone for any unforeseen reason or circumstance. The whole engenders the absurd. And gloriously so.

I'm doing well enough, and I'd like to give this a shot when I can. I haven't been able to dedicate time to this channel since 2017, since my health stabilized and my animation career started. I also felt like KZitem was filling with people who didn't really know or do anything and were making videos about how they know everything yet do nothing, and I felt I was contributing to that. What free time I have goes to pursuing film as a career when I'm not resting to manage my health and work. My day job - basically since the channel stopped updating - see's me animating videogames and, thanks to a live-action short I made with my brother that won a bunch of awards, these last couple of years I've spent directing cinematics in a video game. Due to my disability that's slowly getting worse, that's most of what I can handle these days. I'd love to get back to this channel now that I have more experience and a bit more knowledge directing, but given that it's been 6 years, I wouldn't believe me if I promised I'd make it one day. I genuinely aim to try, as I enjoyed this quite a bit, but that's all I can say for now.

Femalw gaze is not the antithesis to the male gaze. She was still nothing other than an object and provision of service. The male can still put himself in the mans shoes as the women is washing him. Not female gaze at all.

It's OK to day that JJ Abrams is a SHITTY DIRECTOR. He's not just blunt. It's like watching someone with a blunt knife insist on cutting devorative sushi. And they only use bluefin tuna to do it. All I can think is "hey, what if they just let someone who DOESNT SUCK direct that movie instead of Jj Abrams." I don't know Abrams as a person, but I hate him. He has been a poison in Hollywood. At least Michael Bay is good at what he does. Abrams is just a piece of shot

I love this video, although I do disagree with how you explained shaky cam in Snowpiercer. The shaky cam in Snowpiecer serves to highlight the chaotic nature of the fight scenes, as opposed to Chris Evan’s character’s fight scene towards the end, where you see him in a much more composed state than you would in the shaky cam fight scene. But overall, lovely video, and makes me more interested in directing than ever.

I remember that first Griveous sequence with such a fear, and then the guy with the green saber is just compressed into nothingness and even though there was no blood I was like "that one died, no way, is this ok to show on TV?" I think I was under 10 years old when I watched it first.

Well five years later the sequel trilogy turned out to be an unmitigated disaster. Complete shit show that alienated fans and almost killed Star Wars as a franchise. Part of that blame is square on JJ Abrams.

Merry Christ-mas, Dan Fox. A hearty well done for this essay. What we found most entertaining was the manner of your presentation. All too often one finds the odd essay presented in a grave manner as to sound un-agreeable to the palate. Cicero would have been pleased with your method. Well done, sir.

Just for the record, the bug he was searching and eventually found (red needle if i recall correctly) has directly or indirectly connection to a bug called myrmeleo(not sure if i spelled it correctly) that digs a pit in the sand and whenever another bug gets into the pit,it will make the sand walls of the pit fall apart (just like in the movie whenever he tries to climb back up) and trap the victim lower to the bottom of the pit till the victim lands on the jaws of myrmeleo.

@@Hartlor_Tayley the book makes it even more clear that what drove him to this whole thing was his lust for success (it is mentioned at some point when he says that he will never be able to publish a book or something but not as emphasised as in the book), that's why in a way sticks to the house.Because he is really close on discovering a water machine (the barrel thing),where instead if going a walk on the sea he went back to check at the barrel (i think he does stay for his wife as well).
