Often Randi would sometimes expose hoaxes simply by duplicating the hoax, such as Uri Geller's bending of spoons "with only his mind" hoax. (The trick involves proper preparation of the spoon using what is called "metal fatigue" in the engineering world.) But there is one hoax (according to the atheist) that he refused to even attempt to duplicate to prove it a hoax, the Christianity hoax. (I know this because we exchanged some emails on the issue back in the early 2000s where he told me he was not interested in doing that.) The way that hoax is supposed to have worked is that Christianity was founded upon people who never existed who supposedly performed supernatural miracles that never happened, and all you read on that in the Bible is a bunch of bunk, especially the line in John 20:30-31: "Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name", yet somehow almost immediately after Jesus died (around April 6, 30 AD) the hoaxers were able to almost immediately start a religion with all that false information that grew exponentially, starting with thousands just over a month later (Acts 2:41), which continued on until millions were adherents to the new religion, despite severe persecution. To duplicate such a hoax, one would only need to take a copy of a book like "Harry Potter" and add to the end of the book, a line like this: "Now Harry did many other miraculous signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Harry is the Grand Wizard, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name", and then start the religion with that book. Christians believe it would be impossible to start a religion based on lies like that, therefore the time-stamped documented miracles one reads in the Bible are obviously true, thus Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Even Mohammed was intelligent enough to know he could never start a religion like Christianity, and thus noted in his Koran that he had no miraculous signs to offer. No one is saying one can't start a religion with a large following, but simply NOT the way Christianity was started with its truly supernatural miracles like people being raised from the dead. Randi claimed Christianity a hoax, but was never willing to prove it.

I wrote this just as Randy handed over the check and stopped the video. I didn't buy any of it so I was not made an April Fool... What? Psychics are people, not computers. The bracelet monitors heart rate, temperature, conductivity. The camera on the computer watches your eyes as you look at objects, where they look, how long, pupils, blinks, facial and body nuances. It might even use the microphone to listen to breathing (using digital filtering to cut out noise). That stupid thing on Randy's head is a sensor as well, but not for brain waves, just the same thing as the bracelet, just a fancy "shiny object" and used as a distraction. His software is just a fancy version of a lie Detector. Somewhat like a cross between a polygraph and an E-Meter used in Scientology. So called psychics use these subtle clues (we call them "tells" in poker) and a simple Q and A (questions and answers) to "appear" to be psychic. This guy has the added benefit of using a bracelet to get bio feedback into the computer. That is why he himself needed to be sure the correct sensor ID was entered, else it would pick up someone else's bio info and get confused and not work. I hope Randy got his money back. Now if the computer could do it without bio feedback sensors, no cameras, no microphone, and the subject covered in a cloak, then that would be something. Not very impressive. Also, leaving clumps of unsightly hair on a mostly bald head really ruins his credibility. And what is with that hat on the presenter? You can even get prompts from your team in the audiance... lots of ways.

Santa Claus or Saint Nicolas of Mirra. The first does not, and the latter is a historical figure. I guess it depends on what want children to get out of it. A history lesson about the actual historical person and then the folk tale that arose from it would be most appropriate.

James Randi didn’t offer hundreds of thousands of dollars to a true psychic. He actually offered ONE MILLION DOLLARS to anyone that could prove ~ scientifically ~ that they were genuinely psychic 😳. No one was ever able to claim his prize. James was an amazing person. Extremely intelligent, sincere & talented. Once, Seth Rafael, WON James Randi’s $1M challenge and it was recorded. Turns out, it was an April Fools joke 😆🤣😂😅
