Are you using ball powder or extruded powder? Ball generally benefits more from magnum primers than extruded powders in my loads.

@@snoopklogg That's the plan over the summer. We had a tremendous amount of requests for ball powder as well as a 300win mag and 223 sized load. Turns out, this will be a multi part series.

So all the posturing self-confessed "experts" out there who've been snottily and self-rightously prodding their special know-it-all buttons and shuffling their know-it-all papers telling you all that it's all super-complicated rocket science and if you use the "wrong" primer then the world will come crashing down in catastrophe best all pull their own heads out of their own clueless posturing arses then huh?.... mmmmwwwwaaaahahaha

I’ve noticed mounting systems being the biggest factor in POI shift. I get a bigger POI shift when I throw a surefire brake on in place of my APA, than I do mounting my suppressor on the brake.

The only difference between large standard and mag is the compound. There’s not anymore in one than the other. The compound in the mags burns faster and hotter but other than that it’s not too much difference.

I agree with your approach. I always get a load fully developed and then if I'm still looking for more will do some primer play. On a developed load primers can shrink groups another .25MOA. Extreme spreads and accuracy nodes do not always concur. However for long range shooting you need both accuracy harmonics and minimal extreme spread. Under 400 yards I would just shoot for group size.

Only primers i have had issues with have been the new white mountain energetic's LR primers that i found stringed vertically by around 4" in a rifle that pulls 1.5" groups with whatever handloads i have fed it.... with any of the usual name brand primers point of impact moves around a bit with various different loads but its always in the 1" to 2" group size.....white mountain energetic's gave a 4" x 1.5" vertical string

Results were just as I thot... The WLR IS hotter than the CCI 200 but I am not certain how it stacks up against the 250... am slightly surprised how the WLR did against the Fed Match but not shocked... your premise was correct and unless you doctored the results, you proved it... that being said, my retired buddy from SAC, who used to sit in the ready room with others and would pen Penthouse Forums, thinks the music sounds eerily like porn flicks genre... 😮
