For auld lang syne my Jo, well that is just spot on, this wonderful song of greeting is surely Scotland's gift to the world. As a Scot, I absolutely adore it, it makes the blood leap with immense pride. 💙♥

I am confused. Are these Scottish lyrics "old" (like pre-dating the English lyrics); or are these Scottish lyrics a recent creation by you?

"Auld Lang Syne" is originally a poem by Robert Burns who was a Scottish Poet and Lyricist. The music and the vocals are provided are performed by Sabine Ehrensperger. I have compiled the written lyrics and the translation into visual video that accompany the music. I guess you could say I produced the video.

The pronunciation of some words is wrong, pou’d for example is pronounced like pulled but without the L sound.

Thank you so much for your version with the original Robert Burns lyrics! That has been so hard to find, as many feel they can modernize or improve upon the poet's words. But I think not - it's perfect as written. And if Scots English sounds a bit foreign to modern ears, then listen again and again... you'll soon pick up the beautiful rhythm. :)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot And the days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll drink a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne And surely you will buy your cup And surely I'll buy mine! We'll take a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne We two have paddled in the stream From morning sun till night The seas between us Lord and swell Since the days of auld lang syne For old acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind Should old acquaintance be forgot For the sake of auld lang syne? For old acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind Should old acquaintance be forgot In the days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll drink a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne
