The engine they gave you is 2014, it changes slightly in some things but basically you could put it in without changing the engine wiring and it would work the same, same sensors, same everything.

Glad you know what it came off of I couldn’t figure it out haha but I do have an updated video I’ll be uploading really soon I actually had to remove the timing cover and change out a few things to take care of the check engine light it didn’t want to erase for almost a year

I don’t think you needed to unbolt the control arm. Just unbolting the strut should get it out of the way

Dude - this was super cool. Sad to see you don't upload anymore. I'm impressed at how quickly you got the engine out. Any idea why you got the cam code that someone else mentioned in the comments, or what the remedy/solution was? I'm thinking of trying to undertake this myself, although I have no knowledge as to what I'm doing here.

@@Garciabuilds96x Hey! Awesome to see that you're still active. I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza pzev, 153k miles. I haven't started the swap just yet. I'm still trying to mentally commit to this lol. I only have some experience working on my motorcycles, nothing remotely close to this. It's crazy how easy you made it seem. My engine isn't dead yet, but I have engine oil and coolant mixing... The car misfires on startup sometimes... and if my car sits for 3-4 days, it starts with a nice puff of blue smoke. I assume it's the head gasket. I mistreated the engine a lot over time. 10k oil changes, driving on low oil for a long time, and pretending it's a racecar using the paddleshifters to get me to redline all the time. It's been burning a lot of oil the last 30k miles. My thought was instead of replacing the head gasket (which I have a high chance of messing up the timing/gasket replacement), I can find an engine for around ~2000 and has less than 100k miles. Of course, there's no service history, but with LKQ I can at least get a warranty with it. It'll take me a long time to replace the head gaskets and I would risk messing up the timing. It's going to take me A LONG time to do, but would feel good if I can get it done. I was really impressed with how quickly you were able to get the engine swapped. I found it really funny at 4:30 you said after an hour and a half you were ready to pull the motor... I know damn well it's going to take me 10 hours to get to that point 😂. It's interesting you had to replace the camshaft position sensors and that other comment on this video also mentioned it. I was hoping for an easy plug and play lol. Your video showed me all FB20 engines are not plug-and-play. There could be differences. Anyway - thanks for the reply! You might hear from me in the near future... Nice bike btw
@Garciabuilds96x

@@poledancerz1yeah so doing the head gaskets on these is kind of a pain to be honest because of the timing chain situation the older timing belt style is way easier and more simple but oh well haha But yeah find a low mileage JDM one or lkq they technically are plug and play you just use your intake which I think I explained all that in the video I just forget it was so long ago ha If you’ve never done it I’d recommend just going to pick and pull and start messing with those engines just to learn it doesn’t hurt I promise once you start you’ll be like damn that was pretty easy

@@Garciabuilds96x yeah just not on the side where you’re putting the force? Think about the physics and then think where you should’ve put the Jack stand. I’ll give you a hint, it’s not on the other side of the Jack when you’re using a breaker bar. It’s not my legs, I guess I don’t really care. But with how that car is moving, you wouldn’t catch me working on that car how it’s jacked up. But what would I know
