You can do joefitzy idea and also increase the length of your Indeed and out feed bed so the board doesn't sag any before and after the cutter head

Sorry mate but if you don't know how to stop that you shouldn't be using a planer

The comments about the sacrificial piece are certainly good, but you should also check whether the infeed table and the outfeed table with the middle support section are really level so that the wood lies continuously flat. And for me, it worked well to remove only a little material just before I reached the right thickness.

You can run the same sacrificial piece through just before your piece, grab it and run it again just after your piece. If you’re running through multiple pieces, you only need one sacrificial board that precedes and trails all of the pieces.

Run a second sacrificial board alongside and just behind your main piece. The sacrificial board will pick up the slack.

there is a scraper on a pole that flooring gods use to scrape up old tile and glue. you should invest in one of those. not too expensive. they make a full 4 ft and then a hand version. Nice, Sharp scraper that does the work for you scraping up the squeezout.

cool! The mortise through the mallet would ideally have a slight taper (easily done since you're laminating the head!) to match the flare as you drive the wedge into the haft.
