Read the books the series is loosely based on the book. I have to admit I don't watch this show. I don't know why they buy a series of books change the characters and the plot. I guess I am just happy they haven't changed any of Jane Austin's books.

I feel like Katniss voted yes simply to make Coin put her guard down and believe she was finally giving in to her influence. Coin might not have put herself in such a vulnerable position during the execution if she felt that a Katniss was still out of her control.

I feel like Katniss said yes to having the final hunger games as a way to gain Coin’s ultimate trust so that she would be okay with letting katniss kill Snow. She didn’t want any doubt in Coin’s mind so that she would have the chance to kill her instead. Plus katniss planned on killing herself anyway after killing Coin, so I don’t think she was too terribly concerned with what would happen after that.

So so unbelievable the show Colin (recall how ENAMORED he was when he gave the engagement ring to Pen) AVOIDING Pen for days and showing up to the wedding prep so as not to fetch questions from his mother. Even if he did find out about LW. He could've asked Pen for space-even in a letter- to process his feelings about LW (yes, we are still a team) instead of avoiding her as if she had the plague (yes, I am ruining your wedding, not mine, cause I'm forced to marry you now).

I share the very same sentiment as you as in almost 100% specially the climax vibe writing. I always said that it might have worked if this is a movie but if your in an 8 series episode, it just wont work. It seems like the drama was built too much that it felt hanging with so much little time were shown on how they resolve the great conflict together. It was a nice show, loved the actors but there's too much drama that the romance and the friendship was overshadowed by the conflict. People confuse that those of us ranting this says that we want them to be lovey dovey no issues vibe but no, there can be conflict and have the leads tackle it together. I believe that is what most of us who are ranting wants to have seen

The difference between Gale and Peeta is freedom of choice. Whether or not Katniss could have ended up with Gale or not was her choice (regardless of anyone's interpretation or decision apart from the author's), I think saying he was never on the cards for Katniss isn't fair because they're both young and hadn't yet explored the possibility of romance with each other. It was a perfectly reasonable 'maybe' for them. But whether or not we like Peeta and/or his and Katniss' romance, she didn't have a choice as far as survival went and so everything that went on between them was doomed to be blurred and confused forever. Nothing was choice apart from them fighting for their lives and the freedom of the districts.

Those false lashes were absurd. They didn’t try to make them look real in any way, shape or form. I mean we all know these actors are wearing wigs and makeup etc etc, but could they not make it look so modern and fake?? Nicola is so gorgeous, false lashes were NOT needed. They were just distracting. Let us admire the masterpiece that is Nicola Coughlan’s face without those annoying (and not at all period accurate) additions.

Another great word besides unsatisfying…. “Anxiety”. It’s like they don’t understand why we love the show…. We want to be swept up in the romance & feel the triumph of the characters BUT instead they have us sit in Anxiety for 3 1/2 episodes. Damping our ability to connect & enjoy some beautiful moments that happened. It just didn’t need to be this way, the drama & separation between the lead couple was too much, too long

Exactly what I notice. I felt sorry for Pen because they made her like this horrible person when in fact there are more people deserving of such hatred. They also want to retain Colin the lashing out no filter with words vibe till almost the last epiosde. Ohh.. I will always love Colin and glad that he came to his senses but will he continue being this persona with little character growth? I hope not. We are tired of S2 not in your wildest dream and S3 your planned entrapment. Please have Colin grow some spine to not lashed out whenever hurt.

I think Katniss may not have been split-second strategic enough for this, but I love the idea that Katniss decided to kill Coin during the "last hunger games for the Capitol's crimes" meeting. I think Katniss realized there the unending similarities between Coin and Snow. She gave Coin one more reason to trust her, in the agreement to her games, which allowed her to kill Snow publicly. She was also rightfully angry and suspicious about Prim's death - this just drove the nail further into the coffin.

My main saying for book to film adaptations is: "Stick as close to the books as possible EXCEPT íf the source material contans sth1. problematic thats romantacised, 2. illogical or just doesn´t make any sense or 3. it´s not neccessarily bad but bc book and film are two different medias, it wouldn´t work". And that´s why im extremely torn apart regarding season 3 bc I feel like there are too many changes but I don´t really know how they could´ve done it more accurately with the so far canon of the show

I was never on board with the idea of telling the audience who Lady Whistledown was in Season 1. I get it that many people who read the books already knew and that others would get spoiled, but some others would not. Also, that whole Eloise knowing plotline would've never needed to happen.

I don´t necessarily hate or dislike this season but I think there could´ve been MANY improvements. I liked part 1 definitely more than part 2. I feel like the reactions to this season are a really good mixture of valid criticism and lack of media literacy. Like there are still people complaining about Colins "rake" persona that "just doesn´t fit him" when that was the entire purpose you kow. But at the same time there IS valid criticism like too many subplots or Polin (and Colin himself) was pushed aside too often. I personally for example love that Benedict is bi but they could´ve executed his bisexuality (and his feeling of being lost and losing his passion for art) much much better, especially since he´s supposed to be our lead for the next season

Lmao nahhh I think we’re continuing from TBSAS then this is a stepping stone to take up Tigris’ point of view. The show and style is part of the propaganda and at the end of TBSAS she and Coriolanus are already diametrically opposed, morally. I also thing there’s a big chance we see Plutarch but IF it’s not Haymitch POV, then this will largely be Tigris POV

My take: Prim is not representing innocence but what Katniss is “fighting” for- Prim is motivation incarnate. In the first book Prim/ the motivation is to protect those she loves (Prim, Rue, Peeta.) In catching fire we learn that Prim is good at helping people- Katniss learns she must help the district 12 tributes and is not sure how she’ll be a good helper. Then when she enters the games her goal is to help Peeta win. In the last book Prim becomes rebel and Katniss eventually does as well. Prim is being prepped to be a doctor (the lead of a medical team.) Katniss is being prepped to be a leader- if a figure head (which honestly a lot of docs are as well, lol.) In the end when she votes yes, “For Prim.” it is a yes for her motivation. And at that point Katniss’s motivation is to end the war. She votes yes so she can kill Coin and end the Hunger Games once and for all.

All this series did was make me cringe and be left disappointed time and time again 😞😬I stuck with it until S3 Part 1 for the costumes and scenery which were very colourful and unique. I was nice to see them change Penelope’s wardrobe as she looked gorgeous but it stopped there as then some of the other characters costumes just went over the top like Queen Charlottes wigs (seriously a rotating cake topper in her wig 🙄) and Cressida’s sleeves (they could have been used as a parachute or a duster 🤣) that it was like watching a drag show. Like everything Hollywood these days bigger/more is not better. These people have no talent whatsoever in adapting anything to the screen without it becoming a daytime campy drama with absolutely no substance. They have wrecked this series for me so will not be watching this show again. Glad that others like this but I am done.

I just did not find that part where the Queen finds her own hint very plausible. Her whole thing is like “yeah, you only responded when Cressida dissed the Bridgertons.” But they published at the same time?? They didn’t make it clear that it was separate times. One shows up in the morning, Mrs. Watson runs in with another five seconds later and Violet tells her that she already has the pamphlet. To which Mrs. Watson says, “a new one, ma’am.” Both my mom and I were confused and side eyeing the tv. It doesn’t make sense in the way they chose to show it. It looks like both issues got written and published at the same time, but somehow Penelope has future sense and dissed Cressida?? This new girls writing sucks and I want the other writers back.

I love their story in the books… Dissatisfaction is a good way to describe the “meh” feeling the second half gave me. The way the show deviated from the books is definitely problematic and I have to say some of the things that are super important in the book got lost. There’s more than one time when Pen refers to the value of open communication and honesty in relationships in the book, and that is lost. I have to say I agree with another commenter about the Eloise situation, and I was really upset at the end of the second season when that happened, concerned how they could proceed. Another big difference is that when Polin get together in the books they are 28/33 years old. They have maintained a friendship over many years. In addition many of Pen’s circle have admiration for LW in the books, so when Lady Danbury puts a reward on LW to find her identity out they speak of her positively. Colin being in the dark about LW prior to their entanglement is so problematic. If the idea is that he does a 180 and comes around they should have given us more tenderness and connections. Shown how his love was greater than his resentment. Instead he went from sticking up for Pen, to her mother, saying he always had her back, that he was not trapped, to then accusing Pen of purposefully trapping him. He was so cold to her in his anger… The best “romantic” scene in the second half is easily outside of the modiste the night before their wedding… why could t we have anything else like that?? I saw a rumor that Cressida might be rewritten as Kate for Benedict’s season - she went off to live with an awful aunt, something about the chain in her hairstyle at the end of the season, and that a Benedict had a key on his waistcoat or something… I’m not sure how I feel about that either.

The way their scenes were written this season makes me think whoever wrote them didn't really have any ideas on how to write more scenes between them. They had the most potential from all of the couples, and in the previous seasons their conversations were written beautifully. Nicola and Luke are such great actors as well so there was so much to work with and I'm gutted with how the show runners decided to go about some of the scenes. The LW reveal should never be dragged for that long.

I do not think that your theory about it being Madge’s Mother and Maysilee’s Sister is correct. In the books, It said that he did have a girlfriend but she was later killed off like they rest of his family because of his defiance towards the Capitol used while winning the games.

Yes - unsatisfying is the word. The majority of my media diet is romance and I felt like S3 failed to live up to the basic standards of the genre! There was no catharsis at the end where they feel like true love, you swoon and wish it was you, shed a tear and clutch at your heart! Angst is great, but only when you know WHY each character is struggling - I was as surprised as Pen was when Colin said he still loved her in the last 5 minutes of the season 😂 in a book you get the love interest's thoughts and feelings more, but they could easily do that in the show via flashbacks as they've done previously, using his alleged brilliant writing, or just being more honest with Pen in dialogue. Entertained, but didn't come away with good feelings at all.
