I've competed in piwerlifting with guys who cut so much weight, they went up 2 classes by the day of competition. No more 24-hour weigh in. If you can't compete at your actual weight class, you need to find a new class.

Or u know, maybe walk around 15 lbs above ur weihht limit like colby and izzy do. And be a PROFESSIONAL. Ufc is ver young and with time they will understand that one of the biggest killer of fighters is the weihht cuts. The weihht cute take so much out of a fighters life and the organs suffer. The drastic weihht cut and weihht gain is what ages a fighter so fast. But everyone wants the weihht advantage the day of the fight so they do this nonesense. They should go back to the days where we had the weihh in and the fight on the same day. Then fighters won't cut so much weight since they won't have the time to rehydrate and nourish the body before the fight The reason u can't sleep when that hungry is because your brain believes you're dying and ur brain fires of warnings so u can't sleep cus it wants you to eat and live and not sleep and die

Or you can be a professional and stay 10-15 pounds above your fighting weight so when you start training camp and tighten up the diet, by the time 10 weeks is up you're right on weight or just a couple pounds over.

yup, good friend of mine developed some weird body dysmorphia from it. Even after high-school and years after he stopped wrestling, he'd still go running in sweatpants and a sweatshirt with a trashbag underneath, not eating or drinking and going until he blacked out and got hospitalized. in his mind a fruit smoothie was as unhealthy as drinking a slurpee

Weigh the hour before fighting. Weights are there for a reason. If you can’t walk around at that weight then you shouldn’t be fighting at it.

This is how you fix this. Have a Thursday weigh in, a Friday weigh in , and post fight weigh in. The Thursday weigh in you have to be within 7 pounds of your fight weight. The Friday weigh in is the one with the fans and you have to actually make fight weight. The post fight weigh in you have cannot be more than 7 pounds over your fight weight. And if you miss any of those marks you don’t get paid at all and any win is vacated and the other fight gets the win.

I absolutely gets what he is saying. Hurt people want to hurt people….and it takes a lot to control that. First time I cut weight I did it the night before and it was literally the worst sleepless night I’ve ever had. Kidneys on fire, whole body simultaneously painful and tingling, and both too tired to move and too restless to get up. That being said, I still do it every time because I feel like dropping the weight in such a short time would be even worse.

@@valoredramack9117 The weight cutting for MMA fighters or boxers is different from an average "diet" The goal isn't for them to get shredded. The goal is for them to be able to bounce back up to as high a weight as possible right after the wiegh in so they have that advantage in weight whilst keeping their stamina and explosiveness. The average person or bodybuilder doesn't really need to do that so they often sacrifice strength when cutting. It's a completely different thing.

Weight cutting genuinely shouldnt be a real thing it encourages fighters to weight bully because everyone does it, and it is TERRIBLE for these guys. Its awful for your kidneys specifically, i worry about the long term effects that we may see once these younger fighters get old as fuck and have been doing 15 pound weight cuts in the span of less than a day

Here’s the thing, by no means is this healthy. But there’s a difference between one time and many times. One of the great stories with wrestling was Brandon Slay upsetting Saitiev. But before the Olympics, Slay was over by more than 10 lbs, and John Smith helped him cut all that in a few hours. He claimed it was the hardest weight cut he ever did, it’s a wonder he performed the way he did. I’m not completely against it if it’s just one or two times, but all the time is not advisable. But I’m also a wrestler, so what the hell do I know😂
