loves truck stops kick you out because they want the money from doing crappy repairs they approached me one time when I use to work for swift trucking went on a road call to one of there stops way up on I-76 had three of them walk backwards with there hands up after they saw me lift three mounted wheels on steel rims on my service truck I looked for signs stating no outside vender's never saw any thats when one of there armature mechanics came out being rude and disrespectful I told him to go pound sand and that's he came back out with his manager and another but buddy mechanic to harass me about changing tires on there lot

As someone who is very good at diagnosing all sorts of problems, major hat tip to you for doing this on the side of the road with traffic wizzing by you. Haven't watched you before but I'm guessing you're not in Atlanta--that parts run could take you 3-5 hours.

Hopefully they didn't kill those batteries with the bad connections. I check my battery connections pretty frequently. I ended up putting lock washers under the nuts on mine. That seems to keep them from loosening up as much now. As a single truck carriers, I try to do this type of service at my yard to keep from getting stranded on the road.

Loves has a shop, if this guy is doing repairs and taking business away from loves they’ll kick them out, seen it happen a handful of times, also most of these truck stops have signs that say no third party repairs, if they have a shop so that being said
@willdrivesu7914
Ай бұрын
@TruckingSasquatch didn't really think of that. That makes sense. Those techs at Loves are not who I want working on my truck, though. Oil changes and tires would be okay. And emergency trailer repairs if they're minor.

Site clean up, truck clean up (on site), ordering the parts or reorder truck stock, writing the work order, totaling the bill should be done before you leave the job site. It is easy to get into the “I must get to the next job attitude” but it is just pulling dollars out of your bank account with unbilled parts and labor that you miss. Are you billing your consumables (break clean, nuts/bolts, air fittings (if you have them in bulk)? Do you bill travel to/from your office on every job? Do you charge a computer connection fee to pay for annual subscriptions? If you carry parts, track their sale, if you don’t not turn them 4 times a year, do not stock them. I would suggest adding boxes and being able to sit in the passenger side of your truck but I am just an old mechanic who has seen too many coworkers hurt on the job. Good luck, stay safe, and I enjoy your videos!
@GreaseGuru

I do most of what you said, just not on the camera. Everything is tracked on my end and I use Fullbay for everything. They make it extremely easy to bill out and verify everything that can be charged will be charged. Running a ton of calls, the truck cleanliness will go down, but you know that
