Would the cheap set handle steel lines? Or it's rather only for copper lines?

@MrFrambooise well my cheap flare set has done many steel and copper lines without issues it's all about who is using the tool

After a lot of troubleshooting and research, I think I have a similar problem but coolant is also being sucked into the combustion chamber. From your experience, is it likely coolant is being sucked into the combustion chamber? Steam is coming out of my exhaust pipe. I don't think it's a blown head gasket. My spark plug wells do seem to have coolant in them. Also, when I first turn on the 2008 Ford Econoline E250 V8 4.6 2 valve, after the van sits foe awhile, steam comes out of the exhaust pipe a lot more but then reduces. I have no DTCs. I had to replace the water pump. Now there is preasure in the coolant system but I am still loosing coolant somewhere. My engine only shakes after the engine warms up. My coolant guage is not working but my scan tool shows the temperature. That van seemingly only has a cylinder head temperature sensor, not a typical coolant temperature sensor. The vehicle barely moves when pressing the gas. I appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Thank you.

The issue is with the coolant being down in the spark plug holes is that it will seep down the threads into the cylinders and fill them up and unfortunately coolant isn't combustible so it will wreck the bottom end of your engine in most cases or potentially the rings and the steam/smoke from your tail pipe could be blown by from the rings
@florenbaron7111
13 күн бұрын
That makes sense. Thank you. I removed the upper intake manifold and the gasket is damaged. There was also coolant in three of the spark plug holes. Hopefully the new gasket will fix it.
@MaritimerMechanic
11 күн бұрын
You should have removed the spark plugs and cleaned any coolant out from the cylinder with a vacuum pump. What happens is after time the coolant will destroy the crank bearings or piston rings as coolant isn't a lubricant and it does not compress

When doing any brake flare you use the flare dye as reference to when the line should be. Typically on most of them there is an indicator line provided to show how far the line need to be out

All I did was take an air hose and spray it out and they sprayed some brake cleaner on a rag now the proper method would be a vacuum pump to remove the most of it but I didn't have one at the time

You are correct it's easy to flare but also easy to crack it if flared incorrectly and also it is not silicone bronze it is a nickel/copper in other words considered NiCopp lines where I live. Which also defeats the use of a line bender.

And when he took it to Dodge for the first time ever to have the transmission changed they noticed and gave him a brand new Dodge Ram that would rust and gave him an apology that it was a manufacturer error and now his truck will rust again.
