dudes attacked on camera by tons of jerks, still gets his permit extended, still gets more permits, then a few years later one of the jerks just watches him fall from the mountain like 3000 feet. Yea, thats not suspicious at all, lets all not talk about that. Kinda like the JM and kanyes enemies we arent allowed to talk about

No matter how skilled you are at mountaineering. One thing about Nepal mountain like Everest & K2 mountains. They will test you to the core. Going there, you have to be mentally prepared that you might make it or die there. RIP Ueli

Tragic to say the least, in this sport around half of all the greats die and often die young. I'm just waiting for the news that Alex Honnold died free soloing or Nirmal Purja getting swept by an ice- or rock fall and killed. I feel like almost every truly captivating climber minus Messner and another 3-5 people ended up dying; basically every great major mountaneering doc the person dies, except Free Solo and 14 Peaks, and oddly they're the most extreme. All the others; The Alpinist and Marc André - dead in an avalanche, The Last Mountain and Tom Ballard - died in an avalanche too on Nanga Parbat after his mother perished in a storm on K2. They die and die young and in a very tragic manner. It's part of the allure though to see how far they can push it until they fall off - it wouldn't be inspiring without the risk. Like the 100 meter dash world record isn't impressive or appealing to me because there's no bravery and mastery of the mind in the same way to just run fast or whatever. Alpinism is something else and requires total control of the mind and body, and also massive amounts of LUCK - unfortunately we all run out of that eventually at some point, and if you do while mountaineering - chances are you die unfortunately. Rip to one of the greats. I've never climbed a mountain in my life but find great inspiation in pro climbers, they're a different breed for sure. Same leauge of badassery as special forces and people like that, except you're facing a mountain not a loaded gun.

slightly sad and poignant that Ueli's YT feed is frozen in time, there will be nothing new to be added to what is a very small number of uploads, but the opposite of his climbing achievements which were many and frequent. RIP
