Looks terrible! Should have left it original. Not a fan of destroying history!

Out if honest curiosity, how king does it take from 1st primer to last coat of clear coat? It would ve helpful to get an appreciation of how much time this tajes in the real world. Thx. Great finish 😊

depends on the set up, temperature and materials. But in professional auto paint(which is what was used) primer, paint, and clear coat can all be sprayed in a matter of hours.

Love seeing you go through with the sanding. Too many of them come in here for re-repainting with horrendous orange peel. Its time consuming and somewhat expensive but well worth it.

This machine came out like a dream! That's my favorite shade of red, it's so luxurious. I can see why they call it a candy coat, it reminded me of a cherry Tootsie Pop. I'm in the process of refurbishing and custom painting my own vintage Singer sewing machine and treadle. It's a model 127 from 1929 and I've learned so much about it just from the disassembly and I'm thoroughly enjoying the process. I have a couple of question if you don't mind me asking: 1. How exactly did you remove the badge? The only thing that seems to grab hold of the rivets is a pair of plyers but they just won't budge. 2. Where did you buy your paint? I don't want to ruin this refurbishment with any crappy paint from the hardware store.

Rivets are removed and replaced. Find a tool that gets the job done without damage of badge. Automotive paint is only paint i can recommend but must be sprayed in a professional setting with proper equipment!

May I ask if you sand the paint before applying the clear coat? Also, do you sand the clear coat before applying the decals? Thanks.
@sewseriouscom

you may sand to smooth in between coats but the last base coat should never be sanded.

Have you done one and painted it black? The colours are great but there's something about that classic black - especially when it has that mirror finish.

@@sewseriouscom Awesome - I bet they love their machines when they're done too. I find it hard to gather up the courage to try, even on a really grotty machine - even on touching up a chip! It's a great skill to have and you do an amazing job. I wish you lived in New Zealand, we don't seem to have anyone here that does it and I've got a machine that is mechanically beautiful and sews like a dream and will easily outlive me - she's just an ugly (but clean, well-oiled and greased) duckling, poor wee mite.

@@major3078 Yes - even if I think about it I get nervous! I can't find anyone here that does it though so one day I'll probably just have to gather up my courage, research the best I can and give it a go. I don't know any other way to ever get experience and all the things I am expert at still had their first time. But if you're ever visiting New Zealand let me know - I'm happy to offer you some hospitality (I'm always happy to do that!) and a look at her just in case you'd like to do her for me while you're here. I would sag with relief!! :-)
