Is there a reason you use Maya for the beginning portion instead of just using Zbrush? It seems like a lot of people are in different bandwagons about Zbrush's Zmodeler features. I can't really decide, but I just find your workflow here interesting for more perspectives.

Hi!!! The reason that i use Maya is because i'm comfortable use in it. There aren't better or worse workflows or techniques. In my opinion, all of them are goods. You just need to find a workflow where you are comfortable and the final results of your projects are your want it!!

@jafjdesigns

Hi!!! I just drag the mouse down the edges that i want to bevel using ZModeler tool, that's all. Let me give you a tip: Maybe you are doing yet, but you can put the video to x0.25 speed to watch it more detailed. That's help me alot when im studying and learning new knowledge from a timelapse. I hope to have been helpful!!! :)

Hi, i love your content, always watch 2 times, one in normal and one in 0.5 speed haha. One question, you use dynamesh in the first mesh (the blade) ? I ask this because sometimes when I pass the mesh to zbrush for sculpting, I dynamesh and have a hard time keeping the blade part sharp. Thank you and good work.
@jafjdesigns
Жыл бұрын
Hello Tiago! Thanks for your words :) When you pass your 3d models from maya, blender, 3ds, etc,... be sure to bevel the edges you want to harden. This will help you give your models the look you exactly want after to dinamesh or subdive (You can bevel your models in zbrush too). Then import your mesh into zbrush, subdivide it and dynamesh it to start detailing your high poly. I hope I have been helpful!!! :) If you have any more questions about it, let me know. Soon I will share new tutorials!!! :D

Hello there. Great video but I have a question. Can you please tell me, after opening the maya file in zbrush, did you separate the different parts of the barrel into different subtools? If yes, can you please tell me how?
@jafjdesigns
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nooreen!! If you have a model where the parts are combined, go to your Maya's project and add a new different material to the parts that you want to make as subtool. Next, when you import your fbx in zbrush, in import options select "import materials as subtools" and thats all mate! I hope to have been helpfull :)

@@jafjdesigns one question how do you put like patterns on your axe in subsatnce painter. its my first time and I am trying to learn.
@jafjdesigns
3 жыл бұрын
@@KingVaderYT First at all, you need to create the pattern in Photoshop or take any from internet (should be grayscale). When you have your pattern import it in current session in substance painter. Go to File > Import Resources. Where says "undefined" select "texture". Now you have to create a new fill layer with a black mask. In the fill layer select height channel only and desactive others. Finally, use projection tool to project the pattern in to the model (you can access to this tool pressing 3 in your keybord for default). Select black mask and drag your pattern in to it. I hope to be helpful¡¡ :)
