How can you tell if it's just the sensor or the pump

Hey is the sensor straight into the block? Mine is leaking but idk if can just change the housing or i would need to replace the lower block.

I replaced the sensor and was wondering does it get threaded all the way in or does some of it stays exposed? I stopped when I felt when it got heavy resistense but I didn't want to over tighten.

to re-install, get a thin, clear rubber hose from home depot and slide it over the plastic switch. Make sure it's a snug fit. I fed it in from the bottom, right in front of the radiator fan. Spin the hose until the threads start and pop off the hose. I was able to tighten it from the top with a ratchet, an extension, 2 swivels, and a 13/16 deep socket. Made it a million times easier, but it's a pain in the ass no matter what. Also try fitting a small piece of the hose over a ratchet extension and the other end over the switch and guide it in that way. Good luck!!

Changing this was the biggest pain in the ass. I had to go at it with my hands backwards between the heat sheild of the exhaust and the altertator. I stood on the passenger side headlight and used my hands and feeling to guide the bit into the hole with some tape holding the part on a extension and socket. Once I finally got it threaded, I was able to take a wrench to it. This is by far the hardest thing to do. This was on a regular 3.7 too. Took me four or five days in total and definitely banged up my hands. Also the alternator vent hole edges are SHARP, so becareful.

I'm noticing a burning oil smell in the cabin of my 2016 ford explorer...is it possible that this is where the oil is coming from and dripping onto the exhaust manifold? Or is there somewhere else that oil may be leaking from and dripping onto something hot and burning off?

Check your oil level daily. If it's low and your drain plug is tight and filter is tight, check sensor. I am not a professionally certified mechanic

I would also check the far left side rear valve cover (by the screw) for a crack. I had this same issue, the rear valve cover was cracked and causing oil to leak onto the exhaust and into the vehicle.

With mine parked on a hill facing uphill it still leaked oil. I expected it and was ready to put the new part in fast.

Please note a 13/16 socket will be too small. It’s a metric 21 mm, nothing else.

I don't have a film crew or GoPro, so actually recording the repair was not possible for me. I had no clue where this part was, so I just wanted to show people where to locate the part. R/R is literally unscrewing and screwing back in...not much to see on video anyway.

You can, but not necessary. Just put a small catch pan down for the minimal fluid that comes out. Make sure to refill after reinstallation of the new sensor.

@@jfernandez5122 I have the same issue I was told it can also be the canister purge valve. I will be changing both and hopefully that fixes the issue.
