Churchill and Truman? Are you mad? I won’t go over every example, but the most prominent one is the Berlin Wall; built by the German Democratic Republic to stop the mass exodus into West Germany and stop the brain drain. If the Westerners wanted a wall, they would’ve built one. They were far more prosperous and were receiving a LOT of aid from the West. The Soviet Union had just had half its urban territory destroyed so therefore it was unable to do so.

The political philosophers of all brands live in a happy dream world. Communism, Socialism, Democracy, Capitalism, Republicans (not the US political party), those who favor a benevolent monarchy - all sound pretty good when their doctrines are espoused in books and speeches, but as soon as they try to form real governments they all end up the same - tyrannical rulers who govern the people for their own personal benefit. No matter how well they start out, ALL governments eventually evolve into tyranny and a means to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few privileged individuals. The best a citizen of any government can ever hope for is that the government ignores them as individuals.

Arise, wretched of the earth Arise, convicts of hunger Reason thunders in its volcano This is the eruption of the end Of the past let us wipe the slate clean Slave masses, arise, arise The world is about to change its foundation We are nothing, let us be everything Chorus: 𝄆 This is the final struggle Let us gather together, and tomorrow The Internationale Will be the human race. 𝄇 There are no supreme saviors Neither God, nor Caesar, nor tribune. Producers, let us save ourselves Decree on the common welfare That the thief return his plunder, That the spirit be pulled from its prison Let us fan the forge ourselves Strike the iron while it is hot Chorus The state represses and the law cheats The tax bleeds the unfortunate No duty is imposed on the rich "Rights of the poor" is a hollow phrase Enough languishing in custody Equality wants other laws: No rights without obligations, it says, And as well, no obligations without rights Chorus Hideous in their self-deification Kings of the mine and rail Have they ever done anything other Than steal work? Into the coffers of that lot, What work creates has melted In demanding that they give it back The people wants only its due. Chorus The kings make us drunk with their fumes, Peace among ourselves, war to the tyrants! Let the armies go on strike, Guns in the air, and break ranks If these cannibals insist In making heroes of us, Soon they will know our bullets Are for our own generals Chorus Laborers, peasants, we are The great party of workers The earth belongs only to men The idle will go reside elsewhere How much of our flesh they feed on, But if the ravens and vultures Disappear one of these days The sun will shine always Those are the original lyrics. Basically the whole song change this is a completely different song.
We are proletarians and we are always exploited so weak up proletarians let's fight for rights. " Let the ruling classes tramble at a communist revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains, they have a word to win. Workers of the world unit." -------- KARL MARX ------

"Let no one build walls to divide us, walls of hatred nor walls of stone" Ironic then that it is the communist regimes and not the capitalist ones that ended up building walls to stop its people from escaping to freedom! When the capitalists locked their money in safes, the communists locked their peoples behind walls and iron curtains. What would have Karl Marx said?
@_icey
Ай бұрын
He probably would have been disappointed, Karl Marx did want genuine democracy in his vision of a socialist path. But this ended up not happening because where socialism was tried was largely Federalist societies and the Marxists in charge were forced to start from scratch, and even if it was capitalist before, any attempt at doing a socialist country without authoritarian practices usually ended in a coop by other more powerful and richer capitalist nations. Chile is a example of such a thing being attempted, they elected a socialist leader and started doing things that the capitalist powers didn't like, then proceeded to murder the leader, and installed a fascist regime.

The Soviet Onion under Stalin's rule was brutal and ruthless. It also didn't achieve communism, but rather socialism which was still mostly a capitalist system. (But that's not the reason why the wall was built) The wall was built to both keep saboteurs out and to keep the german population in. It's a crude option, but why would you expect immediate perfection from communism but hand wave away the flaws and suffering caused by capitalist systems?

Observing how inherent human instincts were forced to emerge and bring out the worst. Being subjugated by the same people who exclaimed equity, duty, and freedom in the same breath as signing the most oppressive of measures. How many years have you spend living under communist boot to believe you can do it better?
