Concrete is expensive and costly to grind. You have no business teaching people how to use a ride on when you yourself have no clue

Doesn't matter what this guy prefers. He cant run the machine he has properly. This is NOT how to run a floor. I will gladly train you properly if you want. I have placed floors all across Canada and am aci certified. 27 yrs experience

I work for a winnipeg based company. I have worked all over Canada in different aspects of concrete. I have also worked and learned from world of concrete ride on challenge first place winner 3 times and much more. I enjoy learning anything I can from anyone with a proven track record. I personally finished floor for Darryl Katz' private suite at Roger's place arena in Edmonton, list goes on. I'm not boasting I'm just letting anyone that reads this that I do great work and I don't want people learning improper methods as every year I see concrete quality go down due to improper training.

@@tylermclean4968 even just in my 5.5 years in concrete I’ve seen the quality drop severely. My goal is to be the undisputed best finisher & placer in Ontario by the time I’m 30 and it’s looking good so far since my competition isn’t even trying. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the ride-on machines cuz not every company uses them. I’m looking for a mentor, but it’s hard to find someone who’s really good on them.

Try putting your left shoulder against the edge going backwards. No build up or (snotballs) if there is your hitting way to early. That's what the book I read last night said blaaahhhh

it will sink into the concrete if the driver is too fat or the motor conks out and if you leave it there it will become stuck fast but you guys know this anyway.

What kind of blades would you recommend for a single machine? I was thinking combo blades for after the panning so it's easier to move back and forth between different areas of the floor, or having the ability to pull the pans if needed but still being able to float any later poured concrete.
@affordableconcreteconstruc4577

Combos are nice for filling in pin holes left over from the pan's. To get a flat floor I'd recommend pan's or float shoes at least 2 times. A lot of residential just combos are good enough.

Keep the pans on right till almost the end. Have a 36 on blades follow the rider to seal it up and when you're done breaking and crossing and leaving a very tight break remove pans. I usually try to push a tight combo finish as it's less slippery and looks good but it a high polish is required use combo on 36 then blade with rider. You have to gauge the mix , humidity, time etc and just switch to accommodate

how does it not sink into the cement? i should probably know this cause i’m a rod buster but i have no freaking clue

The weight is spread out and helps its on pans. The concrete should be at least 3-6 hours placed depending on temp and other environmental factors otherwise yes itll sink

It's not super wet when the machine goes on. What you're asking is the most import part of power troweling. Knowing your concrete and not hitting it too often. If you do it can cause air pockets very quick if over worked.

Whiteman...only because that is what I learnt on and what I got used to. I like Allan edge machines though I'm not a fan of bartell and Wacker is a decent machine as well. I like the Whiteman trowel for the quick set blade pitch . It's handy when you need a quick hard hit to fill a hole or something . Whiteman is a heavier machine as well
