You're a hard worker and you're thankful, even though your pay is low..You could make more driving people or food around and still have freedom and not deal with poop messes. But you do it anyway . I've done things like garden tilling as a young person, about $40-50 for 30 minutes of work. Paid off the total business cost, $500 investment in the tiller quickly. But there are so many ideas out there.

Why doesn’t a landscape company simply add pet waste removal as an additional service? I would think they could dominate the business.

Congratulations!! I hope to be successful at this. . .thanks to you. I was wondering if I could start a horse waste removal business too. Usually tractors pick up the manure though. (maybe in large grass fields where the owners have horse shows). Horses are my passion and I love being around them.

Thank you for this information. I am tired of working for corporate America. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur but didn't think I could do it. The last place I worked for was Amazon and they treated me horribly. The checks were great but I was suffering mentally and physically working for them. Other corporations are the same ( they treat you like an object or a piece of machinery.) I have also been on my own for many years. I don't have a family or a friend I could lean on so it's been really rough . . but I've become stronger. Beautiful apartment. I'm living in a hotel/suite. Can't wait to get my own place.

Thank you for sharing your story. You're an inspiration! Really enjoyed the video! I'm very happy the business is working for you. Have you contemplated getting into installing outdoor dog waste stations to homeowner's associations, parks, etc.? Not sure what the profit potential is for that...but I'm thinking it might be less work (and less dangerous) than doing "pick-up" work for individual dog owners. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. Thanks again my friend. Keep up the good work. You rock!

There is even franchises for this type of business in fact that’s how I noticed the business to start with . I was on the major job search site indeed and I came across a scoop soldiers job posting and it was for like 15 dollars an hour. I even applied but I think the job posting was kinda old and most likely filled. It did spark in my brain about why not be the business owner instead of an employee and I would make a lot more money. This business might not be the most glamorous but it checks off a lot of the boxes. It’s low cost to start and low cost to run and you don’t have to learn some skill set that takes 6 months to learn like coding or something. Even the franchises are a lot cheaper than other franchises. I like the franchise model because I wouldn’t be in business by myself. The one I’m looking at I think even has a call center where they help you get more customers and I think they even give you crm (customer relationship management) software and website to help manage your business. I don’t want a job I want a business because you can grow a business you can’t grow a job. I might have to work up to getting the franchise because it does cost a few thousand dollars. Start off as independent and then work up to it. If this works out hopefully I can get me a Ford Maverick hybrid so then I have a work truck and stop racking up miles on personal vehicle. You want the Ford Maverick hybrid because it can get up to 42 miles a gallon which is a huge plus in a service based industry with constant driving. Ford thought it out and geared their truck towards the frugal (careful with money type) and if you go just base model no bells and whistles it will be about 20 thousand. If you go to their top of line model it’s still around 35 thousand (I think ) . It looks like a neat little truck and watch some videos on people reviewing it and see what you think 🤔

Hi! You've inspired me! When you say your training, do you have an actual course? I'm curious about taxes, billing, payments, software. The fun stuff like that. I've just started to ponder this idea. I'd like to use this venture to make enough money to get a dog day care, boarding business started. With any luck I can sell like you did! Anything can happen! I hope you're still answering questions!!!! :) Thank you!

Congrats on the sale! 20K is actually a very fair price. The 3x multiple is for mature businesses with processes and employees to do the work! Also, even if you had employees, a fair deal would be 3x earnings (profit) not revenue. Most people will not pay $20,000 for a job that pays them about $20-$30,000/yr. Remember even if you are doing the work, your profit margin is not 100%. It’s probably about 60 to 70% of revenue. Anyway, congrats on the sale of your business, I think you got a great deal, and I hope you’re crushing at your next adventure. Thanks for sharing all these videos on the dog waste removal industry, it can be a great business.

My best piece of advice is to communicate with your clients to make sure the dogs are put away BEFORE you arrive! And if a dog happens to escape, make sure you keep your scooper/bucket in between you two and slowly back away towards the gate. It would be good to also keep doggy treats/toys in your pocket to distract the dog so you can get away!

All of these tips are wonderful! I would also recommend COMMUNICATION! It's important to let the customer know when you're on the way (to make sure the dogs are put away) as well as when you're done. It's about the type of experience you want to provide to your clients. :)

Did you charge more for your initial service than you did for every service on a weekly schedule thereafter? I would figure the first service would generally take longer, if they weren’t already using a company.

Hi Blake, you should ALWAYS charge extra for the initial service. I can guarantee you there will always be more poop on the ground than what the owner tells you :)
