my grandfather always carried a garotte when hunting, he used to tell me this story about a time a mountain lion got him and he used the garotte on it, i always thought it was a bs story until after he passed he left me a taxidermy mountain lion head, and the wire he carried, along with an old polaroid his brother took of my grandfather holding up the mountain lion by the garotte to pose for the photo, things are scary, now whenever i go hunting i keep that same wire on my belt just in case

Do you want a belt like that? You can make it yourself. It is easy, just get a suitable belt and a buckle, and attach the buckle to the belt. Neither part is expensive. I will give you links for these parts if you send me a message with the subject “belt” through my contact form at real-self-defense.com/contact/

Legitimately snapping them across your knee. That was a nice test and gives a very real feel of brutal abuse it may or may not be able to take. Well done, very informative video

Nice marketing stunt. You do realize that applying force on the middle of the rod with one point of contact (knee) will make it easier to break it rather than spreading the force on the rod with 2 points of pression (feet) not centered on the rod, right ? Do the same tests on each of them and you need to prove that you apply the same force to each. That's scientific/believable tests, not your crappy ad.
@ninjatreefrog9346

Yeah I was a bit confused on why he didn't do the same test to their own umbrella... One knee, one point of pressure, all while it's being pulled back in the opposite direction by hand. Meanwhile two feet, two points of pressure, less weight on those points, and no opposite force. Not a fair comparison. Now obviously if your attacker takes your umbrella and bends it over their knee you've lost whether it breaks or not. But in terms of trying to figure out whether or not this is worth the extra cost it's not helpful at all...

I noticed the same issue as you did. He did not do the same tests on his umbrella and to me, that is really fishy. Maybe his umbrella will also break under the same condition? This video is not convincing unless he does the same test on his product.

A new, inexpensive model of Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrella, this one with a crook handle. Thanks to being constructed of the state-of-the-art plastics and fibers, the new umbrella is lighter than our old models with steel ribs and metal fittings, but is longer and has a larger canopy. The Unbreakable® Umbrella works just as well as a walking stick or cane but does not make you look funny or feel awkward. Whacks just as strong as a steel pipe but it weighs only between 1 lb 1.2 oz/490 g and 1 lb 14.2 oz/855 g (depending on the model). And yes, this umbrella resists the wind and will keep you dry in rain just like the best umbrella should. Available at unbreakableumbrella.com/ In European Union please order from unbreakable-umbrella.eu In United Kingdom at www.tacticalthings.com/ In Österreich, Deutschland und der Schweiz bitte bestellen von www.unbreakable-umbrella.de/

Sorry, but having actually been trained in Knife Combatives, no one is going to attack with a knife like that. They're not going to extend their arm that far out that they're horribly off balance. Nor are they going to attack in one static motion that is easy to counter. A street thug could have zero formal training, but will reply on the experience they've picked up over many years in real world encounters. They're going to close the distance, distract you, hit you with their free hand; and then bring the knife into play before you recover. Still, I can see this product being useful in certain types of violent encounters. I was ready to buy. Unfortunately, the best version of this product is typically sold for over $300.oo I'm sorry, that's too much for a club that does a fantastic job of functioning as an umbrella too.

Even more impressive (deadly) is an ice pick as it is made with heavier gauge steel and since it has a hardwood handle it will not flex when used against an assailant, where a bicycle spoke will bend unless it is equipped with a handle, but because it is thinner than the ice pick will tend to deflect when entering muscle. As an officer during the 60's and 70's I saw a few instances where an ice pick had been used both defensively and offensively. What's interesting with using an ice pick is that when inserted through the ear, eye or nose it can be moved around quite (vigorously) to destroy a person's brain which will either kill or leave them in a vegetative state, much like a lobotomy. Although mostly unheard of a few members of clandestine units of various countries have used this technique to eliminate 'problems' where it needed to appear to initially be natural causes, of course until an autopsy was later performed. I believe that merely carrying a sheathed ice pick still does not constitute a deadly weapon, but since I've been out of law enforcement since '76 I haven't kept up with the current laws so if you intend to carry one then research your State and City laws to protect yourself, just in case, (!). Just remembered there is a specific weapon wich has an aluminum handle with a spring which deploys a 3/16" or 1/4" steel shaft which IS listed as not only a deadly weapon but also as an "assassin's" weapon in an FBI advisory they sent out to law enforcement to keep us up to date on what we should be aware of in regards to possible weapons.

Could you give some advice on how to choose which model to get? I definitely want one (or two!) of these umbrellas, but I'm having a hard time choosing which one to get. I have so many questions and can't come to a decision. I'd really appreciate some advice on the pros and cons of the different models. It's not just a fashion choice but also a functional one with how they might differ for self defense. For example... 1. The telescopic umbrella is obviously smaller and easier to carry than the full size ones, but what are the pros and cons beyond that? 2. Does the telescopic mechanism reduce the durability or impact damage of the umbrella? 3. Is it easy for the telescopic umbrella to become accidentally retracted during combat? 4. The long umbrellas are available with either hook or straight handles, but what are the pros and cons of these? 5. When should the steel shaft telescopic umbrella be picked? I would think that it'd be stronger, but your website claims that the non-steel one whacks just as hard as a steel pipe - so then what is the difference? Basically I'd really appreciate some guidance to help me decide what to get. You're the expert, and your insight would be very valuable. What kind of person should buy each type of umbrella? Which situations would each model be best suited for? Thanks.

8 months ago, but get the telescopic one. I have a very old, long premium edition. It's been great and has held up for over 10 years. That said, it's huge despite the fact I can use it as a spear. Furthermore, get the professional version. Why? Because the extra ounces are oz of pain that can be applied for greater impact. This is first and foremost a weapon, followed by a functional umbrella, otherwise just buy an umbrella. As to the longer umbrellas and their hook vs. no hook... Can you fight with a hooked weapon? If not, go straight. Everyone can use a baseball bat. Are you trained? Get the hook version, maximize your knowledge and muscle memory. Are you actually going to a place where danger is real and likely?? Get a long version. More reach = more advantage = more impact leverage. Are you going to be in close quarters? Like an airplane vs. 1 crazy? Go short, steel, maximize power. Variable environment? Go short, steel, and maximize power. Given how quick a weighted blunt object can down an opponent whose struck in the head, I don't think you need to worry about a long, drawn out fight and retracting telescope. People who experience immediate pain mostly stop, unless they really want to kill you for something you've done. Weapons are situational based off the environment you'll be in. IMO, the short, telescoping steel version will be my travel pick. The extra 9oz is felt more in the wallet than the pack.

Gotta love no nonsence approach to marketing Your product :). Shows that you actually trust your own product, also great job on showing how to fix common issues, it is a stark contrast to the most companies who either claim that the product is indestructable or try to make it as hard to fix as possible. I wish this tipe of approach to marketing was more common.
