Obviously if we compared voices on a technical level, Butler is far from perfect. But the raw emotion he puts in is just wonderful. Throughout the film i really feel what hes singing and believe it. The anger, the desperation, the loneliness; he portrays it excellently. I would prefer to listen to that than someone who was technically brilliant but didnt sell the story and emptions to me, anyday.

This is a song for all of us guys who've never had a relationship with a woman who really and truly gets us, but we've met one and because of circumstances we can't be with her...

Experiencing the darkest moment of my life is making this song make sense. I am going to live as I have never lived before to honor the time I lost my baby girl.

Butler killed it. He had no formal training before this film, and was able to give this level of performance. I can see why Joel cast him; his deep raspy voice is so desperately trying to sound like a beautiful tenor, and that about sums up The Phantoms character: he was trying to be beautiful. 😢

I always see light as life, and I have to live in that light, and I have always seen darkness as death. I know the phantom has facial scares, and for him living in the dark represents life for him, but my remark would be when I watched the last Wonder Woman Season 3 episode with Lynda Carter episodes 62 and 63, which was titled "Phantom of the Roller Coaster it's the final 2-part episode, Wonder Woman, played by Lynda Carter helped a facially scared twin brother come out of the darkness and shadows at the amusement park, and finally be reunited with his own brother, who is the owner/operator of the amusement park.
