This song does so well in portraying bernkastel, something unimaginably powerful yet mesmerinsingly graceful. It's sheer presence enough to leave you in awe, but you cannot ever get rid of the feeling there is something wrong with it...

Well, I wonder about it, the violence in Umineko is somewhat different than Higurashi, In Umineko it's kinda more gory but in Higurashi the violence goes more on the psychologic side so, in my opinion, I think Higurashi is harder to handle than Umineko in term of violence.
@latiaos11
4 жыл бұрын
Umineko violence has only shock value, on Higurashi the violence it's an intensification of the horror. Since Higurashis violence is linked to psychological abuse is way more scaring and exhausting than Umineko. Satoko's stabbing scene, or Shions nail ripping for example.
@onemoregodrejected9369
4 жыл бұрын
Good tought. The violence in Umineko is more like Noir fiction with some revenge too. Sometimes is also horror like but the feeling you get is that there is a reason for it. While Higurashi violence comes from unstable people that have lost their mind and deal withtheir trauma in the worst way. Umineko------>Cool bloded murderers Higurashi------>Psichotic murderers Umineko is less scary because, sometimes, you cane even share the rage of the assasin. Higurashi is uncanny.
@powerfulberry237
4 жыл бұрын
It also can't be helped that you don't really feel invested in the characters when violence occurs because you know they are just pieces or everything that's happening is not real anyway. In Higurashi, the same idea of different game boards or kakeras applies, but aside from that life goes on normally and indefinitely within each game board, making you worry for the fate of each character, making you want to see as many of them as possible to survive or at least be spared of the violence. In comparison, every game in Umineko is so self-contained and restricted, it feels more like a parody and you know right from the beginning that they WILL die. In higurashi, while tragedy is always to be expected, you are given the hope and wish that something totally different may occur instead.
@dschehutinefer5627
4 жыл бұрын
@@powerfulberry237 In addition to that, the emphasize of Umineko is the mystery and not the violence. The murders, while incredibly violent, are usually uncannily clean, especially when you look beyond the fantasy scene and just focus on the crime scenes as found. Which is why the Episode 7 tea party feels so noticeably different! There Ryukishi orientates his narration back to Higurashi's roots of a shocking escalation of violence. Just... bloody hell, Jessica's murder still gives me shivers years later!
@powerfulberry237
4 жыл бұрын
@@dschehutinefer5627 yeah ep7, or the real truth in general, felt darker. Because it felt real even before the revelation and as you say there is no fantasy involved. You started to feel like Battler in the first few eps where he refused to believe any of the people he trusted were capable of committing the murders and yet it was literally these same people that were doing it while showing new parts of themselves you really didn't want to see. This is also another reason why death/murder stories aren't necessarily dark or disturbing. You may even grow desensitized of it. Things can be dark(er) without even involving deaths, even more so if it involves slow tortures. Psychological horror is the real form of horror after all. If anyone is familiar with SMTDS, some denser readers often argue that the 2nd game is darker than the 1st simply because more people "die" in the second.
