This a great video thank you. I have a similar problem in my basement shower floor I have a pebbles floor but they all fallen apart so my husband took them all out. But the thing is the floor is not smooth and even can I put new tiles floor over even if it's not smooth and even ground?
@datileguy301
Күн бұрын
If you didn't have any puddling issues, I would spread some good cement over it with the smooth side of the trowel. Let it dry overnight. Then you can set the tile again. Another thing I'd try is scraping it smooth with a nice, sharp chisel. Good luck!

It doesn't hurt to try it. If you do, I would recommend using epoxy grout to finish it off. It's a little harder to work with, but it's the best on the market.

Yes let it dry. You can also use redguard or hydroban or the mapei aqua defense. These you can paint with a brush let dry and tile over the top. Remember this only works if you don't have a leak.

Good video, couple of questions. What type of trowel did you use? I am looking to install 2x2 Tiles on the floor an the idea of cleaning grout out of all of those joints scare me. I was thinking a 1?8" trowel, is that feasible? Did you have any problems with uneven tiles? I have a shower on a slab but the original installer did a mediocre job using standard 4x4 tiles on the floor. They are bonded very well to the concrete and are rather level but not perfect from tile to tile by any means. I fear that I will have a problem with the next level accentuating the unevenness
@datileguy301
3 ай бұрын
Thank you . Trowel size I would say 1/8 is good for you. About the uneven tiles if you aren't removing them then try to skim it with thinset first let it dry then install on top. Skim I mean go over with the flat side of the trowel and thinset to try and even as much possible. Good luck 👍🏽

Hey Bro it looks like you don’t know the difference between Schluter Kerdi membrane and Mapei water proofing membrane so I don’t need to respond to your comment because you don’t know what you’re talking about. I sent this video to Phil and Brian who are sales reps and head of installations for North America and they laughed first and then confirmed that not only will this fail but Schluter does not recommend this type of install. So got take some classes get educated on products and processes. Until keep your trap shut. It’s guys like you running around do hack work that give my industry a bad name.

Hi, thanks for the great video. The contractor that did my bathroom set a marble threshold except now it like 3/4 inch above the hardwood floor. I think there’s a thick bed of thinset under it. What’s the best option to fix it? Should I hammer it to remove, chisel out the excessive thinset and set it again? Thank you!
@datileguy301
Жыл бұрын
The best option is to remove it . Chisel away the excessive thinset. Check how high it is after that. You can also see how thick the threshold is u can purchase one that is 5/8 or 1/2 inch. I would just glue down a piece of kerdi on wood to install the threshold so it doesn't raise up also. If you install directly on wood it could come off shortly after good luck thank you for your great comment 👍🏼
