Hi. Just got contacted buy on of my customers as your video got him confuse... Its about the prism finder. The AE-III is for the ETR 6x4.5 Series and the only name for the latest SQ 6x6 prism is SQ-i

one other advantage of the metered prism in this camera, is that the meter uses the CAMERA'S own battery to power it, so no hunting for a special set of batteries, just to run the meter, once connected, you are ready to go, ONE catch to this, to avoid battery drain, put a lens cap on, and shut the blind to stop the meter draining the battery, OR take it off, and store the camera with the waist level finder attached.

great video, but one tip, the speed grip S is different to the speed grip e used on etrs the etrs version mounts via a plate sideways onto the camera base, like the hasselblad v quick plates, and has all connections, couple in this grip mounting area, the SQ grip, mounts vertically, so is different in this regard.

one tip, this mirror issue is actually a safety feature, as when the mirror is lowered, the light safety baffels are to, so this makes changing a lens safe, as the shutter is in the LENS, so this stops you fogging a film (if the darkslide is out of the magasine).

great, clear explinations, but Wait, recently I found out that 120 /220 is NOT the end of the film options for this Bronica camera, or the smaller etr/s/si 6x4.5 brother to this camera, there is a 135 N/W back available to shoot 35 mm film (W is for panoramic 24x56 approx. size), and NOT the Rolliekin style (spacer blocks to retro-fit an existing 120 format camera\magasine), but an individual back, plus a viewfinder mask, to frame these formats. Fantastic news, a cheaper way of testing lenses, and for those instances where switching mid roll (to save exotic film stock, asa changes, etc)- and to finally break the 1/60-1/125th sec. shutter sync speed with this film, as the bronica is a leaf shutter, Fabulous!!

Is the dark slide inserted? If it is, make sure it’s all the way in and also check to see if it’s inserted the correct way up (the two circle icons should be next to each other) as the interlock won’t function otherwise.

do you need to put the dark slide in the magazine after taking the 12th shot when attempting to unload?
@fraserhopewell
3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. No, you don't need to put in the dark slide. If you want to change films, keeping the magazine body on the camera, then you can wind the film to the end using the main crank, open the magazine body and lift out the magazine insert to remove the film. I usually have a 2nd magazine ready with another film in it, so I prefer to swap mags and remove the film later on. In that case, yes, you would reinsert the dark slide. Hope that helps!

Excellent video, Charlie. This video and the ones following are applicable to the ETR-Si. I still shoot B&W film. And I have a 40mm, the two zoom lenses, 75mm, and the 150mm. I've compared to my Hasselblad 500 C/M, and I prefer the Bronica ETR-Si. Thank you very much for these videos.

Hello Charles, I have a Broncos ETR . While removing the prism finder, the focusing screen accidentally fell out. Can you tell me how to re-fit it. Thanks. Rick Braun
@fraserhopewell
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick. Apologies for the late reply! The focusing screen should be held in by two catches, on on either side that slide out and grip the screen. There are little tabs that stick up that you can swing them out with using a fingernail. The screen in the SQAi is shaped so that it can only fit in one way (right way up and orientation). Hope that helps.

great video, by the way if anyone is interested as of 1963-1972/75 bronica made a lineup of Hasselblad copies called the c/s /s 2/s 2 a & e c ; ALL of them were curtain shutters, ie shutter in the body, not the lens ( as the later e t r s i \ sq a/b \ GS models were), THIS is why the shutter speed dial is on the body like you see it in the video, as the e c model had the shutter in the body & electronically controlled, so it's a hark back to an older design, even though the leaf shutter is mechanically controlled in those models (the two pins sticking out on the lens mount).
