"...FIVE seconds left in the game! Do you believe in miracles?! YES!!" My mom watched this game live, and when they trailered this film, she was certain they'd get it all wrong. When we popped the DVD into the player, and she heard Al Michaels's ORIGINAL audio she went to a VIBRATING Attention position, and her arms flew up in celebration as if it were THE live game. There were tears in her eyes as Kurt read Herb's words.

I remember watching ‘Miracle’ in the theater back in 2004. Though we all knew the outcome of the real game, it was so cool when the entire theater started clapping and cheering as if we had seen this game live. One of my favorite experiences while watching a movie. Go USA!

I can not help but feel nostalgic as the USA that is portrayed in this film is a country that no longer exists. The change from then to now is absolutely staggering. The US ascendance in the 80's seemed to start with this game and culminated in the fall of the Soviet Union and the victory over Iraq in Kuwait in 1991..... But I was there in Lake Placid in 1980 as a HS Senior. I was there about a week prior to this game and saw the US defeat Romania 7-2. Fortunate to have been there.

I'm not even a coach, but I have a few of Herb's leadership quotes in my office. In 2024, we're more divided than ever before. I wish we could have a similar unifying event.

A guy named Jim was giving a speech one night in Boston, when he turned to a child in the front row and asked him personally, "Tommy, have you ever seen the movie Miracle?" "I have," Tommy replied. "Did you like it?" Jim continued. "Oh, I loved it, I watch it every night. But can you imagine if that really happened?" I'm not sure if Tommy thought it was fictional or knew the movie could not capture the magnitude of ecstatic emotion of the real event. But the speaker was Jim Craig, the goaltender.
