I'm happy to see that you are interested in the Farmall M. If you are interested, you should watch Farmall Fanatic on KZitem. He has a lot of very good videos on Farmall tractors and has a wealth of knowledge on them. That looks like it’s the meteor custom model as opposed to the base model (the chrome strakes the the sides) anyway this car was only available in 62&63 and in addition to the 221 the top engine option was the 260

Glad to know I’m not the only one who uses mixed 2 stroke gas to start old engines. That extra bit of oil really helps if the rings aren’t sealing good due to sitting.

Positive ground is actually a better stronger ground then a negative ground system. Do some research and learn things before you start calling stuff dumb. They were smarter back then in a lot of ways then today.

From the factory Farmall ran their hydraulic pumps off of the camshaft and the pump is in the belly called a belly pump. Anything else is not from the factory.

IIRC 1961 Mercury Meteor was a full-size car; like the 1961 Fairlane. The 1962 was the same as the Fairlane except the wheelbase was stretched 3 inches (on sedans, not wagons). That 221 was in the Windsor family of engines (221, 260, 289, 302, 351W). Engineers knew the engine wasn't big enough to pull that car, so later on in 1964, they introduced the 260 Challenger. Of course, the Meteor was discontinued in the U.S. in 1963 leaving the Comet. Then the Meteor brand was re-introduced in Canada. I think that car has a generator. (Ford didn't go to alternators completely until 1965. I think the 1964 1/2 Mustang has a generator.) That radio had tubes in it. Great video!

Cool car. Amazing interior on that one. I had one like it with only 40,000 miles on it. Drove like a new car. Had a lot of chrome on the dash too. The fact that car started after sitting as long as it did is why I thing people are full of it when they dis points. I have been driving on the same used points the car came with for 7 years now. I drive a 66 Falcon. BTW, I have always used full synthetic oil without zinc additives and no harm has come to my engine yet. That holds true for several of my older cars. After cam break in, zinc isn't all that important, and it gets way too cold up here to use that thick diesel oil. 5-30 or 0-30. Maybe even 0-20.

Fyi...If you want to wipe out the rod and crank bearings, use 15w-40 in the winter like a rookie would unless you live in miami, otherwise be smart and use 10w or 5w-30 with zinc or stp or that hypertec you used. as well, when adding additives, have the engine running to operating temp, pour additive in while running and let run or take for a drive for a few minutes for complete integration into the oil, otherwise it can glob in the pan and block the sump pickup starving bearings and again wiping out rod and crank bearings. otherwise good job thanks for sharing.

After cam break in you don't even need the zinc. I run full synth in all my old cars. My daily driver has been running on it for 7 years without harm. I like 0-30 or 0-20 in the winter if you want it to start and get fast lube.

I run 20w-50 in my 66 Stang with a 289 year round. It still has 80 psi oil pressure cold. The internal tolerances are big enough in the older engines for a thicker viscosity.

@@ragman0696 works if you live in miami, North Dakota winters not so wise. try putting 20w50 outside for 24 hours in 0 degrees then try and draw it through a coffee straw. when it won't flow try one hundred times smaller simulating bearing clearances.
