i think is a good idea if you put animations on the throws of the bombs and for going bakwards with the rocket you can put the rocket like turning backwards and you still go fast but loking back ,

im watching now devlog 6 so i dnot know what u added till now but i have a idea: on the start of an race u see an explasion on top of the mountain. the player goes down the mountain while a snow tsunami goes down next to him. but after a while the snow goes on the track. the player who are on the front have to be now even faster because the tsunami is right behind him. and the other player who where slower now riding on top of the tsunami down the mountain. after a while there is a big cliv where the player have top jump to the other side. the tsunami on the most part got down the cliv. but some part got to the other side too and start do get bigger as a big snowball which is following the players till its smash in a tree or building. now there is some stuff u could add as example: the track is back to the position where the tsunami goes down....at the end of the track the player are standing and in the croud and are happy/sad that they win/lost. but then the tsunami hits them all... till devlog 6 i like ur project^^

An idea for movement mechanics is to add wipeouts, so like real skiing if you go straight and fast for to long you will have to maintain your balance with inputs at a specific tempo otherwise you get get wobbly and then punished with a wipeout. This will give a nice learning curve for new players and the upperhand for seasoned players

Have you thought about adding taunts when you do the reverse skiing, could be a good way to troll your opponent, just started my unreal engine journey, im clueless going in but im commited to learning

i beg you to also include different ski types, like short slalom, giant slalom and off piste skis or something, i think this will impact the skill level you can take the game to and give variety in playstyle perhaps that they have these features; short slalom skis - easy and fast movement, semi good grip on ice, semi slow on off piste giant slalom skis - long and slower turns, really fast on straights and carving, perfect grip on ice, slow in offpiste off piste skis - lightweight so higher jumps, fast on offpiste, easy manoeuvrable but bad on ice

One of the better indie devlogs I have seen. Game looks fantastic. Just a nice feel to it all. I could see this being a gem that rivals the big race games with the way it is heading, only lacking in not being part of the already established franchises to have their iconic characters and fanbase. I am a tad surprised that you did not seem to get inspiration from snowboard kids on n64 considering all the other inspirations around that era, but I could have simply missed it.

I think it would be cool if using the rockets backwards sent you upwards into the air and made you flip. Thinking about the physics of having rockets on your skis while going downhill, I think that's what might happen, and it could add some gameplay depth as an alternative way to get into the air, at the expense of some of your forward velocity.

when reverse skeeing with the boost rocket ability, you could make it so that the character does a backflip, and while doing so its rocket fuel/fire coming from the rockets gets directed towards the players ahead of him making it a fun way of *burning* your enemies while doing a backflip for extra cool points. Sorry for the hard to understand explanation. great work by the way

I have been looking forward to this! Okay, so after watching, great job. Overall, still think you've got a good thing going, but I'd like to give some constructive feedback. First of all, please think about trying to prevent scope-creep. Make a vertical slice of an entire race when you can. Second, the crafting system, while very unique, and interesting, does take away some things the more more traditional "Mariokart-esque RNG boxes" gave you. Mainly; a system to create dynamic catch-up opportunities, and of course the joy of RNG-gambling. Perhaps think of some ways to re-introduce those in other ways? Finally, I loved the old penguin missiles. Having them be robots make them slightly less interesting to me personally, and I also really enjoyed there more physics based bouncing all over the place. Perhaps have characters have a few free crafting combinations. Like if you have a certain part already, Nash can always craft it with a rocket part once per game? And other characters other parts? Probably hard to balance, but could help make characters even more unique. Experiment a bit with crafting to see what fits the game. You're doing a great job, and I can't wait to play it!

I think it would actually be really cool if the combination of items relied on order. So that would mean you couldn’t swap them around like shown in the devlog, but would give more variations. So picking up explosive then rocket = penguin missile. But rocket then explosive = an explosive leap forward and landing. I think with items like this having more combos makes for more decision making. Tho that is just my 2 cents 🙏

This looks fantastic man. I will say about the issue of changing item combos, discarding certain items or swapping primaries; I think all of that is unnecessary. The items should just be expended upon usage. Not only is this simpler, but keeps people from getting too comfortable and relying on a single item or combo all the time. This also makes balancing the game easier for you as no one item combo will be in a player's hands at all times once they learn which ones are the most optimal. They'll be forced to adapt as they earn and use machines or machine combos.
