The reason this band stayed unknown globally is that the USA never had a state broadcaster like the CBC/BBC. US talent was regionally based.

Over the telephone, Jill asked me to join her band when I was only 17. Possibly on recommendations, or she was just out of it. This is classic 80s new wave, with Scott K on the bass.

I think the reason they remained a hidden treasure of the Midwest is that back then this style was neither rare or remarkable enough to give them wings. It took time to show how great it really is!

Of course the song and The Shivvers performance are great. But also gotta give props to the TV crew. This is small market live TV in the late '70s or early '80s. The sound, directing, camera work are excellent!

Hearing a few songs by this group for the first time and wondering why they weren't HUGE. Just a tad too early for MTV, maybe? Compare this group with Blondie and I wonder if it all came down to the hair color of the lead singer. A sad thought, but not unrealistic, either. Image counts for so much.

Wait, which Milwaukee are they from? I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. never heard of them till now, and we have a pretty cool street punk scene, ranging from 77 powerpop/pop punk (like the Boys) to spikey hair drunk punks. so please, for the love of god, if you're gonna claim you're from somewhere, add the state to go with the city you're claiming so people don't get confuse. like Milwaukee, OR? don't get me wrong, i do like this band. just want to know which freaking Milwaukee they are from? OR or WI? if Wisconsin....we don't call it Milwaukee, we call it, Beer City.

Definitely from Milwaukee WI. These were folks I hung around with at the time. Some of the bands that these people were in prior to The Shivvers would include The Haskels, The Orbits, The Drones, The Craze, The Lubricants, In a Hot Coma, Forearm Smash, Death, etc...You had to have heard of some of these bands, right?

So remember this -- it was SO COLD - I drove because some people's cars would not start (thank you 1974 Chevy Caprice)... a bit of a "caravan" -- Jill hated the required TV orange make-up - because she really didn't wear much - but they had to convince her that she would look ghostly in front of studio lights... more than worthy of Eric Carmen's attention....
