Send it back 🤷🏻♂️ That's what I did. I have a Schecter C7 SLS Elite MultiScale and it's beautiful. Perfect, except one of the letters on the headstock isn't complete which I really don't care about. The first one I got was "open box" and seemed fine until I realized that one of the frets was high, preventing me from playing the highest frets. I'll always be wary of open box deals from now on..

I only touched the defective one because to tell the truth Schecter has a very careless quality control but I have 3 Km and they always have an error. And especially in the electronics part they should have better components and improve their quality control.

Why would you pay full price from sweet water instead of going direct to schecter? Common sense isnt common in giitar either. Theres no reason for qc problems with schecter, theyre the only company who inspects rhe qc twice when they do the setups in claifornia for their imports.

Sweetwater has been slipping the last 7-8 years. Guitars I’ve ordered from them arrive with manufacturing dust still on the bodies. SW never touched them for any inspection purposes. I’m talking >$1k guitars too. I pre-ordered the Shuriken from SW and it came with horrible action, intonation whacked, truss rod issues… never again.

This is disappointing. I was considering grabbing one of these based on how great my Schecter SVSS Exotic is built. The Floyd 1500 is kinda meh so I put a Gotoh 1996 in it and the Duncan Alpha/Omega pickups. Thing screams now.

I've had a Schecter KM-7 MK3 Artist once. From the shop the bridge was not soldered to the ground, so the background noise was very loud. Also i found this same plastic plate under the bridge. I consider this is very unsmart decision to route the pit for the bridge but then put a plastic in it. Fretwork and fretboard were not good made. Sold that guitar without any regret.

Thanks for saying what needed to be SAID. I just bought a KM6 MKIII lefty and while it plays really nice, it sounds HORRIBLE. So I replaced the Fishmans with SD Black Winters (also in my other axes) which the corners of the SD's had to be cut off to fit the fishman only routing design. The switch had a flat spot which I replaced and the pot to 500k(for passive) the pots and switches included reminded of the ones you get with China DIY guitars. The bridge pickup is half an inch closer to the bridge than my Charvels, Ibanez etc. No matter what I do, it sounds thin and tinny. My other axes(even knock offs) sound "chunka-chunka" (EVH 5150iii)this guitar sounds "chinka-chinka" I am soooooo disappointed and for the 2k I spent I am considering returning it! Mine also had a lot of bodywork flaws and such. I have a South Korean AGILE 7 that smokes this thing silly. It was 400$ at the time. We all know the price of everything has doubled in the last 3 years but still, I probably would been happier with a Keisel or a Solar but they to seem to have their own sets of problems. Also Schecter, BC Rich, Dean, and some others are all being made by the same company. Over priced -under quality. Just like everything else in life now, food, cars, tools, you name it, NOTHING is made like they used to. I should have you build me something! Thanks Brother!

Man that sucks, but thanks for your honesty. I had a quick go of the 7 string version of this unplugged during the week. I didn't look that closely at it, but dam it felt nice in the hands. It's $3,200 in Australia so definitely pricey. I got a MIJ Jackson Dinky and Ibanez RG5120M and they were both cheaper. The Jackson was only last year and was more discounted than usual and the Ibanez was a couple of years ago, but from what I understand and can feel/see with mine, Japanese guitars are generally great quality. Doubt I'll be able to get the KM-7 but good to know what to look out for if I go back.

I have the artist KMIII 7. I bought it used. I didnt like the KM signature pickups and installed Tobin Abasi pickups. Much better imo. The guitar is rough on the rear but that doesnt bother me at all. The one thing that drove me crazy was the intonation. I used 11-64 and set it to A standard. Took me forever to get the correct intonation and had to cut the saddle screw. Once I set it up the way I wanted there was no problem. By the way 2000 is the standard price for guitars of this quality. I also have the black Evil Twin. I also got that used. The setup was horrible. But once I set it up it was a great guitar. I feel once you go under this price point you find fret issues which is not an easy fix sometimes. I think you just got a bad one. If you know how to do basic maintenance on a guitar I would never buy something like this new.

very shocking information regarding schecter since i had many of them (all cheaper than the one mentioned) and they all were of great quality, so im very surprised that a schecter can be made that bad, and especially a korean one which is usually higher quality than chinese or indonesian ones, would love to hear it if there are any updates on this matter

Im seeing the crooked bridges more and more from Schecter and as a C-1 Hellraiser owner I understand exactly what youre talking about but you have to remember its not just schecter, I have some PRS SE that have minor flaws but were still talking sub $1k guitars. Trogley did a review recently of the new Schecter MGK razorblade guitar and it too had a crooked bridge. But Epiphone is having horrible QC issues with tbeir frets before they leace the factory and ESP along with Ibanez have also seen their QC go to shit but its gotten loke tbis for virtually every walk of lofe since covid tbay ive seen and I have working acquaintances always mentioning the same to me "Quality control has gone to shit since covid". Sorry you took this hit but atlesst it can be returned and possibly replaced?

I had a C-7 SLS Elite FR recently I was amazed by how nice it played and felt! But it had a massive issue.. the neck has the same problem yours did Just putting my finger on the neck would make it change pitch.. it was unbearable because any movement while playing would make it go out of tune. I think it’s due to how extreme the neck carve is and how thin the neck is. Even after a setup and restring, I still had issues with tuning Very sad because it played amazing and I got it for under a $1000 basically used. But that neck issues makes it unplayable

I got a SLS Elite 7 about a year ago (from Sweetwater) and it came in with pretty much no flaws and is awesome. It keeps up with 3k guitars. I am really shocked that the KM-6 MKIII is that bad. I can understand some minor flaws but the bad bridge and non F spaced neck pickup is insane.

I have a km-6 mkiii artist. It looks great and the thin wenge neck feels like heaven. But mine is also riddled with qc issues. The biggest problem is the nut. It's set slightly off center and it took me forever to realise that they made the cut for it too far into the first fret, making the scale length actually too short. Which would explain why I can't get the damned thing properly intonated. The guitar feels phenomenal in the hands so I've been thinking about trading it in for the similar John Browne Tao-6, but I'm a little gun-shy about the brand now. Schecters seem to get stellar reviews, so I'm hoping it's just a problem with the Keith Merrow guitars.

I recently bought myself a Schecter Synyster Gates Custom S, Been with me since November 29th, I mean, it plays phenomenally, but there are some cosmetic flaws in the neck and joint area, again, SK made, seems the QC for the South Korean made guitars have really gone downhill, because there are some bubbles in the paint and finish.

Get one of the original Hellraisers lol. The one where you can’t see the body binding from the front. Those are amazing guitars. They’re worth getting and paying someone to refret with stainless frets and completely upgrading in general. I’ve had a few over the years and they were legit some of the best playing and most reliable guitars I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a Vik Duality 7 and a Daemoness Cimmerian 7
If you’re looking for a really good quality guitar I can highly recommend the rg550 genisis, set you back about 1k stainless steel frets and plays a dream
