If you look really closely around 1:07 you can see a long loose thread or something on the back of her dress which must have been the result of the wardrobe malfunction when she tried to get up.

The show ran for one season. FYI, each episode was a kind of pilot episode. The best episode would be chosen. Barbara and characters would star. No episode made the grade with a network. They didn’t see any potential in any episode to be a long running series for Barbara. No lie, research if you’re interested!

Until a year or so ago---meaning for a little over 60 years---I'd associated Barbara Stanwyck pretty exclusively with Westerns. However, I stumbled upon "Night Nurse" and "Baby Face" and got snagged by her magic. So many times watching "Baby Face" I can't help saying aloud "OH she is ROTTEN to the CORE!!!!!!!" Her eyes go from Bambi-like to cold and vicious. She OWNED those poor guys with her soft eyes then they'd be like a sawmill. She can be as tough as a bucket of nails, then as elegant as can be. As for diversity, she was the Charlize Theron/Renee Zelweger of her time.

I've just watched 3 of her acceptance speeches - 2 Emmys and 1 Honorary Oscar - in all three she went way out of her way to thank the crew and all those working behind the scenes profusely. What a dame!

Barbara always kept her figure. I wonder if she worked hard to stay so thin. She always looks so fit and thin in her movies and they say how the camera adds 10 pounds at it really does. She must have been tiny in person.

It took her longer to stand up and unhook herself from the dress than it did to give the speech. That is what the speeches should sound like if they actually want people to tune in and watch.

It is ironic that Barbara Stanwyck won the Emmy that year over both Reed and Young , two Oscar winners . She never won an competitive Oscar ! Also ironic that the presenter is Shirley Booth who won both ! The Emmy was handed to her by Dick Powell . All three nominees were there and all three were presenters. I am sure all three ladies were professional .
