listen up dingdong I hope you recognize just how talented of a writer you are. I hope you love making videos because im gonna need a couple hundred more You're hilarious, super entertaining and somehow manage to provide an informed, fresh and UNIQUE assessment of Dutch's mental health, a topic/horse that i assumed had been covered/beaten to death forever ago. I watched this one right after and i just friggin love ya. Best of luck

But is it okay to feel sad for a fictional character like Jack? At the end of RDR1. I just wanted for him to find his place in the world. A good place.

I would be interested in your opinion on the theory that Dutch and Hosea have a more than platonic relationship. There does seem to be some evidence for it.

I will say, I don't think it's as overtly coded as I find Bill to be. I do think they're posed as simply friends but I do find a lot of their quips about being called a "curious couple" or Trelawny referring to them as Arthur's parents, them having pet names for one another and this deep-rooted history does make it easy to make those kinds of assumptions for me. Again, I don't necessarily think they were intended to be read as a couple, but I can fully see the reasoning for it.

I love Abigail and Mary and always will!!! But omg I didn't realise how young Abi was at the time of joining the gang, so thanks for bringing that up. Abigail was unimaginably strong and loyal, driven by her circumstances, sure, but I think most people would have given up on John long before she puts the distance between them in the epilogue. I think John might not have survived as long as he did without her once the gang fell apart. It makes me wonder if John would have turned out more violent and deplorable like Javier and Bill without her. Javier especially, who seems to have abandoned all his loyalty by 1907, and ready to sell out Bill and Dutch for the chance of escape, and clearly doesn't believe he's good for anything other than killing. idk if you have any javier content, but that man is a mess, and it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on him :> Amazing videos, I've been watching them back to back

The amount of people that say "Oh, Arthur" in this game is just so....... Udhgjgh Idk what it is about it but it's such a defining phrase. It's "Oh, Arthur" and "Damn it, John" for me if that makes? 😭😭😭

It just feels like Mary doesn't really have anyone else, her father is a mess and her husband is dead, her brother is young and naive - even though Arthur is an outlaw she probably knows he's the most reliable man she knows (and she literally says that Jamie would listen to him specifically)

I also would like to add that rdr2 puts a new perspective on Dutch's death in 1 because he does a similar speech that he did back then after the Natives and Army situation - and while he and Arthur got out very narrowly, it's a hopeless situation for him in 1 (and he realizes that probably long before and he just waited for an opportunity?) Either way he faces the other man that he raised himself, his other, last son, and the way he now repeats what he spoke of with Arthur and then jumps as well feels sort of like rememberance or apology to Arthur and John (even though Arthur didn't exist in rdr1 but that's what the prequel is for). And he's also sort of having the last laugh because he kills himself rather than letting John kill him. Either that or he wants to spare John the pain of it because in the end he was the only remotely fatherly figure John had ever had (I always see it as Arthur turning out more like Hosea and John more like Dutch, especially in 1 I think it's interesting to see how cold Dutch and John could be, depending on John's honor of course.)

So how do we explain the evidence of Dutch being a cannibal in later years during Red Dead Redemption 1? It seems that mental healthcare was definitely needed in the early 1900s since Dutch went that far into the abyss mentally.

I don't want to be rude but it doesn't contribute to the video and it's just a disability accessibility thing IMO. Amazing video thank you so much for posting so insightful analysis so in depth!! ❤❤❤ Usually listen to videos of analysis like podcasts but I did this differently but it still works and is worth it ❤❤❤

I love your videos!! I avoid gaming channels and yours is such a breath of fresh air. Even when I manage to find videos that are not bigoted, I often find the analysis extremely lacking or just wrong. This feels much more like a take by a fellow literature nerd that had fun analyzing books, movies and art in English class. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Thank you, thank you. I hope you will keep posting and enriching the gaming community.

I love these types of videos, it really makes us pay more attention to greatly written characters like Dutch. Me personally as someone who has BPD I’ve seen many symptoms of it with Dutch, especially how he manipulated most of the gang with bullshit “loyalty” as a way to keep them by his side no matter what. When some of the characters in the gang left like Mr Pearson for example he felt betrayed and took it real personally even though they had every reason to leave for their own well being. After that he got paranoid and a little delusional. He even started questioning Arthur’s loyalty even though they both grew up together and Arthur was clearly still loyal to him even after Dutch left him to die at the factory. Don’t even get me started how impulsive this man was too lol it’s not necessarily a symptom but it still could be caused by something like BPD. Another theory is that he could just be a delusional narcissistic asshole that only cares for himself deep down. Great video btw I love taking a closer look at interesting characters like Dutch.

I know it isn't Read Dead, but I'd love to see you do another video like this on a character from a different game, specifically Gary Smith from Bully. He's a character I wish more people would talk about because he's actually a decent villain and a pretty realistic one, too.

As someone who is rapidly finding out that I have a lot of childhood trauma, when you mentioned that Jack should be able to remember Arthur at 12, I thought about how I forgot pretty much everything that happened when I was 4 or 5 by the time I was 7. And then I realized that was a trauma response. It was one of the most real “Oh… *Oh…”* moments I’ve had in a while
