Success isn't just about hard work unfortunately. The reason many people don't work hard is because they never had a chance. For every successful person who has worked hard to get where they are, there are 1000s of people who have worked just as hard or harder and failed, you simply don't see them because they failed. Hard work is a myth and becomes more of a myth as inequality rises.

I had no idea who Don Hertzfeldt was, but I'd seen all of his work, most of it by my dialup modem 20 years ago. Holy cow. *My spoooon is tooo bigg!*

Just discovered you, got another subscriber! I think you should've mentioned that World of Tomorrow and its subsequent episodes were made digitally rather than with traditional animation techniques, allowing him to create his films in a shorter timespan and create some really stunning visuals - you could counterpoint this with the effort he employed in his earlier work like The Meaning of Life. I still dread to think how much his wrist would've hurt drawing all those legs during the crowd sequence.

Thanks for the sub! You make a solid point on the newer stuff, but I wanted to focus more on the overall body of work. I see his digital work as a chapter of his career that's still being written.

Hertzfeldt is a mega pro. Insane how one guy managed to just straight up define early internet comedy. Though I never expected the 'my spoon is too big' guy to make me cry as hard as i did in 'its such a beautiful day'.
